Amazing Taiwan, seat-in-coach tour
This package is operated by our partner in Taiwan and is therefore not a normal Wendy Wu Tours group tour. The seat-in-coach tour departs on Sundays, on a join-in basis, with a minimum group size of 2 people.
This is a private short stay package for the independent traveller.
DAY 1: TAIPEI TO SUN MOON LAKE
This morning you will be met at your Taipei hotel to commence your round island tour. You will have a brief photo-stop in Sanyi, a woodcarving village, before continuing on to Lukang, the second oldest town in Taiwan, famous for its traditional architecture and food. Visit the local markets and old streets and continue to Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan’s largest lake. The eastern part of the lake is round like the sun and the western side is shaped like a crescent moon. Tour around the lake, stopping at Wen-Wu Temple and Holy Monk Temple.
DAY 2: SUN MOON LAKE TO TAINAN
Continue the drive south to Tainan. Visit Chihkan Tower, originally named Fort Provintia, built in 1653 by Dutch colonisers. Next stop is the Confucius Temple. Proceed to Foguangshan Monastery, the biggest Buddhist Monastery in Taiwan where you will see the Buddhist Culture Museum and main shrine. You can experience a light vegetarian dinner at the monastery (at your own expense) and stay overnight in the monastery guest house. During times of Buddhist ceremonies it is not possible to stay in the monastery. In this case, you will stay overnight at a hotel in Kaohsiung. (B)
DAY 3: TAINAN TO CHIHPEN
Rise early to witness the morning ceremony and chanting held at the monastery. Continue to Kaohsiung where you will visit the Spring and Autumn Pavilion, Dragon and Tiger Pagoda and a Taoist temple. Drive to Chihpen, where there are natural hot springs at the hotel. (B)
DAY 4: CHIHPEN TO HUALIEN
Drive north along the east coast via Siaoyeliou, Dulan, Tunghe Bridge (you may see wild monkeys here), and Sansientai. Upon arrival into Hualien, the rest of the day is free to enjoy at your leisure. (B)
DAY 5: HUALIEN - TAROKO TO TAIPEI
Journey to Taroko National Park where you will see the Tunnel of Nine Turns, Swallow Grotto, Eternal Spring Shrine, Taroko Gorge Gateway and a marble factory. This afternoon you will return to Taipei, stopping at the Chingshui Cliff s en route. You will arrive back at your Taipei hotel around 1800hrs where your arrangements end. (B)

A minimum of 2 people is required for this tour to operate. Where less than 6 people are booked, an English-speaking driver guide may be used. A train may be substituted between Hualien and Taipei in adverse weather conditions and a locally paid surcharge may apply.
