Explore the ancient city of Pyay and learn why Mandalay is considered to be the cultural centre of Myanmar. Marvel at the Thanboddhay Pagoda with its 864 gold spires and climb to the top of Taung Kalat at Mt. Popa. At Pindaya, visit its incredible caves, home to thousands of gold Buddha images, before travelling to Inle lake, famous for its floating villages and gardens. A holiday in Myanmar will truly capture the hearts of any adventurous traveller. TOUR ITINERARYDAY 1: AUSTRALIA TO YANGONFly with Singapore Airlines to Yangon for a two night stay. DAY 2: YANGONTour the city of Yangon, starting with a visit to the Sule Pagoda followed by a walk through downtown Yangon, passing the Indian Quarter. Visit the National Museum and stroll through the Bogyoke Market. Later, watch the sun set at the sacred Shwedagon Pagoda. DAY 3: YANGON TO PYAY (PROME)Travel to the historic city of Pyay, also known as Prome. Explore the ancient city of Sri Ksetra, the former capital of the Pyu Kingdom. Later, visit the local museum and take an ox cart ride around the old city wall. Continue to Hmawzar Village to observe local village life. DAY 4: PYAY (PROME) TO YANGONWander through the central market and visit Shwe San Taw Pagoda before returning to Yangon. Later, visit Shwe Myet Hman Pagoda. DAY 5: YANGON TO MANDALAYFly to Mandalay and transfer to Amarapura where you will visit Mahaghandayon Monastery and U Bein Bridge. Continue to Ava and take a horse-drawn carriage to Bagaya Monastery and the remains of the Royal Palace. Later, visit Sagaing Hill and its white pagodas and monasteries. DAY 6: MANDALAYVisit Mahamuni Temple, a major pilgrimage site, and learn more about stone carving at a nearby stone carvers workshop. Later, visit a jade and flower market. DAY 7: MANDALAYTransfer to the jetty and board a boat to Mingun, where you will visit Mingun Mantara Pagoda. Return to Mandalay and visit the Golden Palace Monastery, and Kuthodaw Pagoda. Enjoy the sun set from the top of Mandalay Hill. DAY 8: MANDALAY TO MONYWATravel to Monywa, stopping at the 20th Century Thanboddhay Pagoda en route. Later, visit the 129m-high Bodhi Tahtaung and the nearby reclining Buddha. DAY 9: MONYWA TO BAGANCross the Chindwin River to the Po Win Taung and Shwe Ba Taung cave complexes. Stop in Pakkoku where you will visit Pakhangyi Monastery, before travelling to Bagan by boat. DAY 10: BAGANVisit Nyaung U Market followed by the golden Shwezigon Pagoda. Later, visit Htilominlo and Thatbyinnyu temples. Afterwards, travel through the countryside to Minnathu Village. DAY 11: BAGAN – MT. POPATravel to mysterious Mt. Popa, stopping along the way at a village to learn how palm sugar is produced. At Mt. Popa you will climb to the temple located at the top of Taung Kalat. Drive back to Bagan and visit Manuha, Nanpaya, Gubyaukgyi and Shwe San Daw temples. DAY 12: BAGAN TO PINDAYAFly to Heho. Upon arrival you will be transferred to Pindaya to visit the Pindaya Caves. Later, visit a home-run umbrella and mulberry paper production business. DAY 13: PINDAYA TO NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE)Depart for Nyaung Shwe, where Inle Lake is located, and travel by boat to your hotel. After lunch, take a boat trip along the lake, passing floating villages and stilt houses. DAY 14: NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE)Visit the village of Indein where the Indein Pagoda complex is located. The pagodas here are said to be built between the 17th and 18th centuries. Return to your hotel, observing the beautiful scenery. DAY 15: NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE) TO YANGONThis morning you will be transferred to Heho airport for your flight to Yangon. Upon arrival visit Gaba Aye Pagoda, Mahapasana Cave, Botataung Pagoda and Nanthida Jetty. This evening wander through Chinatown and the night market. DAY 16: DEPART YANGONThis morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to the airport to board your overnight flight to Australia. DAY 17: ARRIVE AUSTRALIAArrive home today. Price guide
