Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar, located on the banks of the Irrawaddy River. The city is rich in culture and history and home to thousands of young monks. Here you will find the world’s longest teak bridge in Amarapura, the world’s largest bell in Mingun and the world’s largest book at Kuthodaw Pagoda.
This is a private short stay package for the independent traveller.
DAY 1: ARRIVE MANDALAY
Make your own way to your Mandalay hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.
DAY 2: MANDALAY
This morning you will travel to Amarapura where you will walk along the longest teak bridge in the world, U Bein Bridge. Afterwards visit Mahaghandayon Monastery, which is home to thousands of young monks. Later, visit Kuthodaw Pagoda, where you will see the world’s largest book, followed by a drive in an open top vehicle to the top of Mandalay Hill for panoramic views as the sun sets. (B,L)
DAY 3: MANDALAY – MINGUN
Early this morning take a boat ride to the small town of Mingun where you will see the Mantara Pagoda and the world’s largest bell. Travel to Ava and take a horse-drawn carriage to visit Bagaya Monastery and the remains of the Royal Palace. Later, explore Sagaing Hill to view the white pagodas and monasteries before returning to Mandalay. (B,L)
DAY 4: DEPART MANDALAY
After check-out this morning your arrangements end. (B)
