This archeological site has been a mystery to both locals and travellers for years, with different legends telling of the jars origins and purpose. Be amazed by Site no.1 and no.2 with the different shapes and sizes of each jar and create your own explanation for their existence.
This is a private short stay package for the independent traveller.
DAY 1: ARRIVE PHONESAVAN
Upon arrival at Phonesavan airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will tour the city and visit the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) office, an organisation that helps clear unexploded landmines that still remain from years of war.
DAY 2: PHONESAVAN – PLAIN OF JARS
Explore the mysterious Plain of Jars this morning, visiting Site No.1 and No.2 where you will see large stone jars scattered about the fields. Spend some time at each site exploring the area. This afternoon, visit Ban Xiengdi Monastery and an important battlefield from the American War in Vietnam. Later you will tour Muang Khoun, the old provincial capital and home to a giant Buddha and ancient pagodas. (B)
DAY 3: DEPART PHONESAVAN
After check-out this morning you will be transferred to Phonesavan airport where your arrangements end. (B)
