The weather in Laos ranges from tropical to sub-tropical and temperatures vary accordingly between the north and south, as well as from season to season. The best time to travel is from November to March when the weather is dry and warm. It can get quite chilly in the north of the country during these months, especially in the mountainous areas such as Luang Prabang. From March, it starts to warm up significantly, peaking in April and May just before the rain comes in June to signal the beginning of the humid wet season, which runs until mid-October.
