Throughout your stay in India and the subcontinent your accommodation will be in properties that are generally ‘medium range’ and can vary from a business hotel in one city to a family-run guesthouse in a smaller town. In more remote areas we use the best accommodation available.
On our 21 Day Rajasthan Panorama tour, the properties chosen include former homes (havelis), forts and palaces from the days of the Maharajas and Indian Royalty. These properties are classed as heritage hotels and as such have no star rating but still possess similar facilities to our regular group hotels. Due to their heritage design and use, the room size and layout will vary from room to room even within the same property. In remote areas such as Sikkim and Bhutan, the properties are clean yet simple; more equivalent to tourist class rather than standard. Due to the location and remoteness of these regions, the same standard of accommodation should not be expected in the larger cities.
Below are some of the properties used by Wendy Wu Tours on our group tours. Keep in mind that your final itinerary will determine which property is used in each city.
Hotel The Royal Plaza (formerly Ramada Plaza) is a 4-star hotel ideally located at Connaught Place in the commercial and shopping centre of New Delhi. Rooms are equipped with modern facilities such as an in-room safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
The Fern Hotel is an eco-friendly hotel. It features a health club, rooftop swimming pool, two restaurants and a bar. All rooms are air conditioned and contain a mini bar, an in-room safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
Hotel Mansingh is situated in close proximity to the tourist and commercial centres. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, an in-room safe, mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel features a swimming pool, restaurant, health club, jacuzzi, shopping arcade and laundry service.
The Ambassador Hotel is close to the business district, shopping centres and tourist sites. This hotel features a bar and restaurant, fitness centre and laundry service. All rooms feature a mini bar, an in-room safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
The Howard Sarovar Portico features an outdoor swimming pool (open February to November), spa, coffee shop and a shopping arcade. Each room includes an in-room safe, tea/coffee making facilities and a mini bar.
Mansingh Palace features a coffee shop, restaurant, health club and a swimming pool and is located approximately 11/2 km from the famous Taj Mahal. Each room has a mini bar, an in-room safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
Covering an area of more than five acres at the edge of Ranthambore National Park, the Pugmark Hotel is only a five minute drive to the reserve. The hotel has well-appointed rooms and six Swiss tents with modern amenities, including air conditioning and a mini bar. The hotel also features a 24-hour coffee shop, a swimming pool, souvenir shop and a TV in the lobby area.
Originally built as a family residence in 1670, Deogarh Mahal was later converted into a hotel. The hotel offers comfortable rooms each individually
decorated with modern facilities. The hotel has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, 24- hour room service and an Ayurveda massage centre.
Situated on the highest point of Udaipur, the Hilltop Palace Hotel overlooks Lake Fateh Sagar, Lake Pichola and the town. It is a modern 3-star property featuring simple rooms, each with a balcony. The hotel has two restaurants, a swimming pool and a bar.
The Manvar Desert Camp consists of a semicircle of 30 deluxe tents, each fully furnished with a bathroom, providing hot and cold water, two single beds, luggage table and an electric power supply. Meals are provided in the dining tent. Evenings are livened up by a campfire, local musicians and dancers. The camp is operational from October to mid-April and is used on our Rajasthan Panorama tour. If unavailable we use Manvar Resort, which is 7km away.
The Park Plaza is a contemporary hotel ideally located in the heart of the city. The hotel features fully equipped rooms with modern facilities, a coffee shop, an English-style pub and a swimming pool.
Ranbanka Palace is a heritage hotel and has views of Meherangarh Fort on one side and the Umaid Bhawan Palace on the other. Hotel facilities include a restaurant, bar and a swimming pool. This hotel is used on our Rajasthan Panorama tour.
Abad Atrium Hotel is located in the city centre close to some of the main tourist attractions. All rooms are air conditioned with tea/coffee making facilities, a mini bar and an in-room safe. The hotel features laundry service, currency exchange and an Ayurveda treatment centre.
The Norbu Ghang Resort is a short walking distance from the town centre of Pelling and boasts breathtaking views of Sikkim’s Mt. Kanchenjunga and its lesser peaks. The resort offers rooms facing the grand view of the mountains and each room consists of modern amenities including air conditioning.
The 4-star Uday Samudra Resort is located right on the coconut palmed beachfront in Kovalam. It is the only resort in Kovalam to boast three swimming pools, including a swim-up bar. The resort has a health club, an Ayurveda treatment centre and four restaurants. Each room is individually
decorated and spacious with air conditioning, internet access and a mini bar.
Originally a boarding house for British settlers visiting Kalimpong, the Silver Oaks Hotel offers facilities including internet access, currency exchange and laundry service.
The Gateway Hotel has rooms with modern amenities including tea/coffee making facilities and internet access. The hotel provides its guests with business and fitness centres, an Ayurveda treatment centre, as well as a restaurant and bar.
If you are staying overnight on a houseboat in Kerala, you will stay on a ‘kettuvallam’ which is a converted traditional rice barge. Available in various sizes, all boats feature comfortable twin cabins, with private bathroom facilities, air conditioning, a lounge area and viewing deck.
