"The China Splendour trip was spectacular"Reviewed:
Mr Ray Allen and Ms Penny Georgiou
We recently returned from our amazing China Splendour tour and thought it appropriate to provide you with some feedback. Our initial research provided us with a level of confidence in your organisation’s ability to deliver an incredible experience. This was reinforced by a friend of my daughters whom works in the travel industry. Our booking was completed about four months prior to our departure on 29th April 2014. All documentation was timely, informative and comprehensive. Our flights with Cathay Pacific, Dragon Air, China Southern and China Eastern were good experiences.
All coach transport was very good and drivers well experienced.
Jay Chen our National Guide was just amazing, good natured, good grasp of English, friendly, professional, extremely well versed with all locations we visited, and knew when to be short and punchy with information he delivered. It was a pleasure to spend time with him and get the inside information of where we were and where we were going. He dealt with some complex issues very well and his focus dedication and caring for his tour group was out of this world. The difference between some of the local guides was significant, some were obviously very new to the job, they were nervous, repetitive and spoke for the sake of speaking forgetting to disgorge the vital information that needed to be disseminated. Thankfully Jay provided this when and where required.
The food was pretty good throughout the trip. The Local cuisines away from hotels were really the treats. At the restaurant near Nine Villages Valley, the high quality of flavoursome food warranted a standing ovation for the owner. But it really was warranted. Our group was very well informed on Chinese cuisine and enjoyed high quality food in local eateries.
The variety of places visited was ideal. The tour was evenly paced, hectic at times but rest breaks more than compensated the physical demands of the tour. Shopping opportunities were provided away from the government factories. More time could be allocated to be spent with locals where you really get to experience the culture, the food etc. The experience of dealing with Tibetans in Nine Villages was just incredible as we wandered out at night whilst the rest of the tour group went to another show. Communicating with people whom can’t speak English but want to know things about you was awesome.
The deviation from the airport to Huang Long was explained to all of us, designed to give us maximum time to explore, however, the downside of this was the lack of time to acclimatise to the altitude. This resulted in a number of tourists succumbing to altitude sickness. In my case I had no problems with Mt Fuji in Japan 3700 metres given the gradual climb in the bus, but we landed at altitude and really in two hours had gone up to 4500 metres.
Nine Villages must be god’s own country and was spectacular everywhere you looked, just gorgeous.
We both enjoyed our tour very much, nothing was too much for our National Guide, Jay was just incredible. Our experience would see us recommend your organisation to anyone contemplating touring in China and surrounds.
We will travel overseas again and would consider using your services again. We will be travelling again in 2015, location and timing yet to be determined.
In summary the China Splendour trip was spectacular, informative, eye opening, challenging, well-paced and a time in our lives we will never forget.
