DAY 1: AUSTRALIA TO DELHI
Fly with Singapore Airlines to Delhi for a two night stay. Adelaide passengers may depart one day earlier.
DAY 2: DELHI
Explore Old Delhi; drive past the Red Fort, walk through Chandni Chowk Bazaar to Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque, and visit the Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple. After lunch, view India Gate before visiting Gandhi Smriti and Qutub Minar.
DAY 3: DELHI TO UDAIPUR
Fly to Udaipur, a city of lakes, palaces and temples. The City Palace of Udaipur is still home to Maharana Udai Singh’s descendants who remain rulers of this independent state.
DAY 4: UDAIPUR
Visit Sahelion Ki Bari Gardens, the Folk Museum and Mewar Art Gallery. You will also visit the City Palace and wander through the local streets and shops. This afternoon relax on a cruise on Lake Pichola.
DAY 5: UDAIPUR TO JODHPUR
Drive to Ranakpur, the largest temple complex of the Jain religion in India, before continuing to Jodhpur.
DAY 6: JODHPUR
This morning visit Mehrangarh Fort and the museum located in the Umaid Bhawan Palace. Take an auto rickshaw to a local restaurant for lunch followed by a walking tour through Subzi Mandi, the local vegetable and spice market.
DAY 7: JODHPUR TO JAIPUR
Leave Jodhpur and drive to Jaipur. This afternoon, shop at the local bazaar in Choti Choper, located inside the walled city.
DAY 8: JAIPUR
Start with a photo stop this morning at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) before visiting Amer Fort. Later this afternoon visit the City Palace, a handicraft centre and Jantar Mantar. Watch a traditional dance performance while enjoying dinner this evening.
DAYS 9-11: JAIPUR TO AGRA
January to May – via Ranthambore Travel to Ranthambore National Park, one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. This afternoon enjoy a canter safari. Tomorrow you will have a morning and afternoon canter safari. The following day, board your train to Bharatpur. Upon arrival drive to Agra stopping at Fatehpur Sikri en route. September to December – via Bharatpur Drive to Bharatpur for a two night stay. Tomorrow visit Keoladeo National Park for a morning rickshaw safari, and visit a nearby village. The following day, drive to Agra via the fortified ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri.
DAY 12: AGRA
View the Taj Mahal as the sun is rising. Later, visit a marble inlay workshop, the impressive Agra Fort and Sadar Bazaar.
DAY 13: AGRA TO KHAJURAHO
After breakfast this morning, board the Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi. From here, continue by road to Khajuraho, stopping in Orchha en route. This evening enjoy a cultural dance performance.
DAY 14: KHAJURAHO TO VARANASI
Tour the Western groups of temples including Kandariya Mahadeva Temple. This afternoon fly to Varanasi. Take a rickshaw to the ghats of the River Ganges to witness the Puja ceremony of Ganga Aarti.
DAY 15: VARANASI
Take an early morning boat ride along the River Ganges, followed by a city tour of Varanasi. Later this afternoon visit the Buddhist sites at Sarnath.
DAY 16: VARANASI TO KATHMANDU
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. The remainder of the day is free at your leisure to acclimatise to the higher altitude. 18 Days India only Tour participants who do not wish to travel to Nepal will leave the group in Varanasi on DAY 16 and fly to Delhi for an overnight stay. The morning of DAY 17 is free at your leisure. After a late check-out (except Adelaide passengers), transfer to Delhi airport for your overnight flight. Arrive in Australia the following day, DAY 18.
DAY 17: KATHMANDU – PATAN
This morning visit the Dakshina Kali Temple. Later tour Patan, including the UNESCO World Heritage listed former Royal Palace and the lively Durbar Square.
DAY 18: KATHMANDU
Visit Kathmandu’s Durbar Square and the Kumari Temple. Later you will explore the Swayambhunath Stupa, Bodhnath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Wander through Thamel Market this evening.
DAY 19: KATHMANDU TO DHULIKHEL
This morning drive to Dhulikhel, stopping at the UNESCO World Heritage listed temple of Changu Narayan en route. In Dhulikhel you will visit traditional Newari houses and browse the local market.
DAY 20: DHULIKHEL TO KATHMANDU
Leave Dhulikhel and return to Kathmandu. Visit the 9th-century-built town of Bhaktapur en route, including the Golden Gate at the Palace of 55 Windows. Enjoy a traditional Nepalese dance performance this evening.
DAY 21: DEPART KATHMANDU
This morning you will be transferred to Kathmandu airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.
DAY 22: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA
Arrive home today.
