Start in the former capital Yangon where you will visit the National Museum and the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda and take a stroll through the local market. The ancient city of Bagan will leave you in awe; it is home to over 3,000 temples and pagodas. Mix with the locals to experience daily village life and enjoy the magnificent view from Taung Kalat located at the top of Mt. Popa. Continue to Mandalay, the religious centre of Buddhism and home to more than 300,000 of the country’s monks and nuns. End your journey at Inle Lake where you can take in the beautiful landscapes before returning to Yangon.

DAY 1: AUSTRALIA TO YANGON
Fly with Singapore Airlines to Yangon for a two night stay. Brisbane and Adelaide passengers may depart one day earlier.
DAY 2: YANGON
Enjoy a walking tour of Yangon. Starting at the Central Post Office, stroll down Strand Road to Pansodan Jetty, admire the colonial buildings and see the Sule Pagoda. Visit the National Museum and the Bogyoke Market for some shopping. Later watch the sun set at the sacred Shwedagon Pagoda.
DAY 3: YANGON TO BAGAN
Fly to the ancient city of Bagan. Stroll Nyaung U Market and see Shwezigon Pagoda and the Ananda and Htilominlo temples. Later, visit Myinkaba Village and watch the sun set from the top of a temple.
DAY 4: BAGAN – MT. POPA
Travel to mysterious Mt. Popa, stopping along the way at a village to learn how palm sugar is produced. At Mt. Popa you will climb to the temple Taung Kalat, located at the top. Drive back to Bagan, visiting a local village en route.
DAY 5: BAGAN TO MANDALAY
Fly to Mandalay. Drive to Amarapura to visit Mahagandayon Monastery, U Bein Bridge and continue to Bagaya Monastery. Return to Mandalay and visit Mahamuni Pagoda, Kuthodaw Pagoda and Golden Palace Monastery. Admire the panoramic views from the top of Mandalay Hill.
DAY 6: MANDALAY
Transfer to the jetty this morning and board a boat to Mingun, where you will see Mantara Pagoda. Travel to Ava where you will board a horse-drawn carriage to visit the remains of the ancient Royal Palace and Bargayar Monastery. Later, explore Sagaing Hill and its white pagodas and monasteries.
DAY 7: MANDALAY TO KALAW – PINDAYA
Fly to Heho and drive to Pindaya. Tour the Pindaya Caves, which house thousands of Buddha images. Visit an umbrella and mulberry paper workshop, then drive to Kalaw a former British hillstation.
DAY 8: KALAW TO NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE)
Visit Pinmagon Monastery, the King Church and wander through the local market. Continue to Nyaung Shwe and travel by boat to your hotel.
DAY 9: NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE)
Take a boat trip to the hidden Inn Thein Pagoda Complex, admiring the floating gardens en route. Stroll to the nearby village of Saema before visiting a local market. Continue to the famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the Nga Chaung Monastery and a weaving village.
DAY 10: NYAUNG SHWE (INLE LAKE) TO YANGON
Leave Nyaung Shwe by boat and transfer to Heho airport for your flight to Yangon. Visit Gaba Aye Pagoda, Botataung Pagoda and Nanthida Jetty. This evening wander through Chinatown and the night market.
DAY 11: DEPART YANGON
Enjoy the morning free at your leisure before you are transferred to Yangon airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.
DAY 12: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA
Arrive home today.
