Upon arrival at Tashkent airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay.
Embark on a full-day of sightseeing around Tashkent. Enjoy a morning visit to the old town to explore Barak Khana Seminary and Tillya Sheikh Mosque. Continue to Chorsu Bazaar, the heart of the Tashkent community. You will find fresh and dried fruits, toasted bread (lepeshka) and handicrafts. Visit the Kukeldash Madrassah, built in 1570 when it served as a town square and fortress. In the afternoon visit the Museum of Applied Arts, Mustakillik (Independence) Square and the Tashkent Metro, decorated with local marble and granite like an underground palace. End the day at Amir Timur Square. (B)
Take the early morning 'Afrosiab' train to Samarkand. Perhaps the most notable name in Silk Road history, Samarkand is a UNESCO World Heritage city with an evocative skyline of domes and minarets. Visit Registan Square, the heart of Samarkand. Wander through the three beautiful madrassahs; Ulug-Bek, Tillya-Kori, and Sher-Dor. Visit Gur Emir, the mausoleum of Tamerlane. This afternoon explore the Bibi- Khanum, the Silk Road Bazaar and Shah-i-Zinda necropolis. Dinner this evening will be at the local Samarkand house of Ilkhom. (B,D)
Travel to Nuratau Nature Reserve and stay overnight in Sentab Village. Your hosts are ethnic Tajiks, and this is a unique opportunity to learn about their traditional lifestyle. This afternoon take a short trek through the mountains to see the local mosque, the ruins of an ancient fortress, and petroglyphs of the
Bronze Age. (B,L,D)
Travel to Aydarkul Lake, a geographical miracle that formed in the waterless desert. There are huge numbers of flora and fauna here and you will be surrounded by pristine wilderness at your desert yurt camp. (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the yurt camp, travel to the town of Nurata and visit the Chashma Complex, a compound of religious buildings including a holy spring and ruins of an ancient citadel. Continue to Bukhara for an overnight stay. This
is Central Asia's holiest city and has a history dating back more than 1,000 years. (B)
Enjoy a full-day of sightseeing in Bukhara. Visit the Lyabi-Khauz, the Madrassah Nadirkhon Devanbegi, Khanaga, Mogaki Attari mosque, Poi Kalon minaret and mosque. Later see the Aziz Khan Madrassah and Ulugbek Madrassah. Enjoy a traditional lunch with a local family. In the afternoon explore the Ark Fortress,
Balakhauz mosque and the mausoleums of Ismail Samanid and Chashma Ayub. This evening, take a late flight to Tashkent. (B,L)
After check-out this morning transfer to Tashkent airport where your arrangements end. (B)
