Saigon, also referred to as Ho Chi Minh City, is a vibrant destination offering a fascinating introduction to Vietnamese culture. Travel further north to the former French hillstation of Dalat, where you will view the exquisite countryside.

Take some time to relax and swim in Nha Trang, Vietnam’s premier beach destination. Continue to the quaint town of Hoi An, where you can stroll by the riverside and learn to cook Vietnamese cuisine. Finish your tour in the north; visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex in Hanoi and cruise around the stunning Halong Bay.

For the curious and open-minded visitor, Vietnam offers a wealth of historical and natural treasures.

Tour itinerary

DAY 1: AUSTRALIA TO SAIGON

Fly with Vietnam Airlines to Saigon for a four night stay.

DAY 2: SAIGON

Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office to view the French Colonial architecture. Learn more about the American War in Vietnam with a visit to the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. End the day at the Ben Thanh Market.

DAY 3: SAIGON – MEKONG DELTA

Travel to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Explore the river by boat, passing stilt houses and fish farms. Paddle through palm-lined canals in sampans and walk through villages, where you can sample local tea. Later this afternoon you will return to Saigon.

DAY 4: SAIGON – CU CHI & TAY NINH

Explore the amazing network of the Cu Chi Tunnels. Later you will travel to Tay Ninh to experience the midday service at the colourful head temple of the unique Cao Dai religion.

DAY 5: SAIGON TO DALAT

Fly to the French hillstation of Dalat and visit the peaceful Xuan Huong Lake.

DAY 6: DALAT

Visit Domaine de Marie Church, Da Thien flower and vegetable garden hamlet and an embroidery shop. After lunch visit the former railway station and take an open-air train ride to Trai Mat Hamlet. End the day strolling through Dalat Market.

DAY 7: DALAT TO NHA TRANG

Travel to the coastal town of Nha Trang, Vietnam’s premier beach destination.

DAY 8: NHA TRANG

Enjoy a boat trip to the nearby islands off the coast of Nha Trang, where you can go for a swim. This afternoon return to Nha Trang.

DAY 9: NHA TRANG TO HOI AN

Fly to Danang and transfer to Hoi An, stopping at Marble Mountains en route. Tour Hoi An on foot, visiting an old merchant’s home, the Japanese Covered Bridge, Hoi An Market and a local Chinese temple.

DAY 10: HOI AN

Visit a market to purchase fresh ingredients for your Vietnamese cooking class, where you will learn to cook traditional recipes which you can enjoy for lunch.

DAY 11: HOI AN TO HUE

Drive over the scenic Hai Van Pass to Hue. Enjoy a cyclo ride to the Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City.

DAY 12: HUE TO HANOI

Visit the Royal Tomb of Minh Mang and Thien Mu Pagoda. Enjoy a cruise along the Perfume River before flying to Hanoi.

DAY 13: HANOI

Visit Ho Chi Minh Complex, where you pass by Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and tour Humble House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda. Drive to the serene Temple of Literature and enjoy a walking tour of the bustling Old Quarter. This evening you will watch a performance of the famous Water Puppets, which have a history dating back thousands of years.

DAY 14: HANOI – HALONG BAY

Travel to Halong Bay and board a junk boat for a relaxing cruise through the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. After lunch on board, travel back to Hanoi.

DAY 15: DEPART HANOI

This morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Hanoi airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.

DAY 16: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA

Arrive home today.

Halong Bay & Hanoi Extension

DAY 14: HANOI TO HALONG BAY

Travel to Halong Bay this morning where you will board an overnight junk boat. Spend the night cruising through the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

DAY 15: HALONG BAY TO HANOI

Continue cruising around the limestone islets before returning to Hanoi this afternoon.

DAY 16: DEPART HANOI

This morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Hanoi airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.

DAY 17: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA

Arrive home today.
