Fly to Hanoi, Vietnam’s elegant capital city for a two-night stay.
Transfer to Halong City, climb aboard your ship and cruise out into the spectacular Halong Bay. You'll spend the day sailing amongst the karst peaks on the tranquil green waters. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and a vision of awe-inspiring beauty, it isn't hard to see why it is one of Vietnam’s most popular destinations. Spend the night on board.
Spend the morning sailing through Halong Bay. After an early brunch meal, disembark your cruise and transfer back to Hanoi. Head to the Museum of Ethnology (closed on Mondays), before a water puppet show. Continue to experience an exhilarating cyclo ride through Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Each cyclo takes one passenger and is operated by a cycle driver behind the carriage. Tonight, enjoy a local dinner with a cooking demonstration of the Hanoi speciality, Bun Thang.
Discover the rest of the sights of Hanoi today, starting with the Ho Chi Minh Quarter passing Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, followed by a walk in Ba Dinh Square. Next, visit the Humble House on Stilts and the One Pillar Pagoda before driving to the Museum of Ethnology. After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to the airport to take a flight to Hue.
Please Note: The Ethnology Museum is closed on Mondays and on Vietnamese New Year, if your visit falls on these days you will go to the Vietnamese Women’s Museum as an alternative
This morning visit the imposing Imperial Citadel and Forbidden Purple City at the heart of Hue, once the home of Vietnam’s emperors. Cruise on the picturesque Perfume River and admire the Thien Mu Pagoda. Later, see the magnificent tomb of Minh Mang before heading to Zen house where you learn about architecture and spiritual meaning of this beautiful place.
Leave Hue for Hoi An, taking a scenic route over the Hai Van Pass. This afternoon, take a walking tour of this charming town. A wonderfully laidback place, the streets are a delight to wander – visit the Japanese Bridge, the colourful market and Chinese temple. Stop en route to visit Reaching Out, a social enterprise craft workshop, and watch the artisans at work.
Head out into Hoi An’s verdant surroundings to Tra Que, where you’ll see the local farmers at work, tending lush gardens of vegetables and herbs. After lunch at the local restaurant, learn the traditional methods the farmers use to plant, fertilise and harvest the crop, then try your hand at raking the ground and sowing seeds before returning to your hotel.
This morning fly 1 hour and 20 minutes to Nha Trang. Upon arrival enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure – the beach is a great place to start.
After breakfast, board a boat for a cruise on the turquoise waters along the shore of Nha Trang. The deck has a roof providing shade. This afternoon, head up into the cooler climes of the South Central Highlands to the lovely town of Dalat.
Spend today sightseeing with visits to the Domaine de Marie Church, the Flower
Gardens and an embroidery workshop. Climb aboard an open-air steam train from the old railway station to journey out through the fantastic scenery to Trai Mat hamlet. This
afternoon browse the stalls of Dalat’s busy market, ending the day with a cup of locally grown coffee as you take in the picturesque views overlooking Xuan Huong Lake.
Depart the picturesque scenery of Dalat and drive to the bustling city of Saigon, stopping at one of the many tea plantations in the region of Bao Loc. On arrival, the rest of the day is free.
Head out of the city to the fascinating Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of underground
passageways used by the Viet Cong during the war. Return to Saigon and spend the
afternoon discovering the city’s sights. See the colonial architecture of Notre Dame
Cathedral and the Central Post Office, as well as the Reunification Palace and chilling War Remnants Museum.
Journey to Ben Tre to cruise on the mighty Mekong. This area is called the ‘Rice Basket of Vietnam’, the rich and fertile lands producing a plethora of rice, coconuts, vegetables and tropical fruits. Here you’ll paddle through the maze of palm-lined canals, taste local produce, visit a local family, lunch on typical Mekong dishes and enjoy traditional music. Return to Saigon and enjoy a farewell dinner and the visually spectacular A O Show this evening.
Spend your day at leisure before transferring to the airport for your flight to Australia,
arriving the same or following day..
All of our tour departures include international flights and taxes in the price. Our tour prices are from prices based on per person, twin share and are subject to the availability of specific economy class fare levels. If the dates we have available for this tour don't suit your needs, or you are not sure travelling as part of a group is for you, maybe a Private Tour would be more ideal.
We aim to cater to the tastes of the majority of people and so the food is not too spicy or too unusual.
Breakfast at your hotel includes local and western dishes. In remote areas, we suggest embracing local specialities. Lunch and dinner consists of shared dishes. Meals generally finish with fruit to clean the palate.
Drinks such as beer, soft drinks or bottled water are at your own expense locally.
Shopping is a fun and entertaining component to any travel adventure. In keeping with most people’s interests while on holiday, your tour includes a reasonable number of opportunities to shop for local goods and souvenirs. Included are visits to establishments that provide locally produced goods, unique to your destination. Witness the creation of these products, and see first-hand how their production supports the local economy. As most travellers like to take home souvenirs, we ensure the shops you visit have a reputation for quality, honesty, and authenticity.
Tipping is not commonplace in Australia. In Asia however, it is anticipated that a tip be given to reward good service. With that in mind, we have a tipping system for our group tours. Each passenger ‘tips’ a set amount to the National Escort at the start of the tour or on arrival in each country. They then distribute this as appropriate.
Tipping is appreciated for Private and Tailor-Made travel. In your final documents, we include guidelines for tipping when travelling independently.

You will find mobile phone coverage to be quite high throughout Asia. We recommend contacting your mobile carrier if you intend to use international roaming during your holiday and ensure you investigate all associated call and data costs before you leave Australia. Some hotels may have Wi-Fi, which usually comes at a cost.
Most nationalities require a visa when travelling to Vietnam. Travellers should arrange visas well in advance of departure. Unlike many other tour operators, we include your visa in the price of your tour. We handle the entire application process – all you need to do is complete the paperwork and send your passport to us eight weeks prior to departure. We are always on hand to help you with any queries you may have while completing the application form.
Wendy Wu Tours inspects all hotels to ensure they meet the high levels of service, which we require for our guests. We pick the right hotel for the specific destination, meaning your accommodation can range from a smart business hotel in one city to a family-run guesthouse in a smaller town. Hotels are also chosen for ease of navigation around tourist sights. View Hotels Here
