The cave monastery of Dambulla has been a place of Buddhist worship for over 2,000 years. In the heart of Sri Lanka’s famous cultural triangle, the temple is made up of five cave sanctuaries filled with some of Sri Lanka’s most precious and sacred Buddha images, in all sizes, poses and postures, in the form of both murals and statues.
