TOUR ITINERARY

Days 1-2: Australia to Shanghai

Fly overnight to Shanghai via Singapore with Singapore Airlines for a 2 night stay. Enjoy a traditional banquet of Shanghai cuisine as our welcome celebration.

Day 3: Shanghai

Today we explore the Yu Gardens, the famous Bund, the antiques and fine arts at the Shanghai Museum, the fascinating Old Town and the unique 1920s style 'shikumen' buildings in the Xintiandi area.

Day 4: Suzhou

We travel to Suzhou today where we will visit the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Garden of the Master of the Nets. We will cruise on the Grand Canal and visit a local Silk Mill, still in operation today.

Day 5: Suzhou to Hangzhou

Travel to Hangzhou where we will visit the local markets and enjoy an oriental tea-tasting.

Day 6: Hangzhou

Today we visit the Temple of Inspired Seclusion and the Six Harmonies Pagoda and relax on a cruise along West Lake this afternoon.

Day 7: Hangzhou to Shanghai via Wuzhen

Travel by coach to Wuzhen and enjoy a walking tour of the intricate system of canals, ancient pavilions and overhead bridges. Continue to Shanghai this afternoon where we enjoy a stunning cruise on the Huangpu River this evening.

Day 8: Shanghai to Guilin

Today we cross the great Nanpu Bridge to tour the Pudong area. This afternoon we fly to Guilin.

Day 9: Guilin to Yangshuo (Li River Cruise)

Relax on a cruise along the Li River, as we travel to Yangshuo for an overnight stay. Spend the evening walking the cobblestone streets or relax in a side street cafe and enjoy the colourful atmosphere of Yangshuo.

Day 10: Yangshuo to Guilin

This morning we enjoy a visit to the local markets before returning to Guilin by road. Upon arrival in Guilin later this afternoon we visit Mt. Diecai for clear views of the surrounding karst landscape.

Day 11: Guilin to Chengdu

Today we visit the Reed Flute Caves before transferring to the airport to board our flight to Chengdu. At our dinner this evening we enjoy a sumptuous Sichuan Banquet.

Day 12: Chengdu - Leshan

Today we travel to Leshan to explore the Grand Buddha, an enormous statue hewn from the side of the Lingyun Mountain. The Buddha is over 71m tall and is wide enough for more than 100 people to sit between its feet. We take a short boat trip to view the statue from the river and also admire the Buddha’s head from the cliff top. We return to Chengdu this afternoon.

Day 13: Chengdu to Xian

Visit the famous Panda Research Centre to see these adorable animals being reared in surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat; we also enjoy a city tour of Chengdu. This evening we will be transferred to the railway station to oard our overnight sleeper train to the historical city of Xian for a 2 night stay.

Day 14: Xian

Arrive in the former Imperial Capital city of Xian this morning. Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, followed by a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling Banquet this evening.

Day 15: Xian

This morning we explore one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors, followed by the ancient City Wall. End this magical day with a live performance of traditional Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 16: Xian to Beijing

Today we visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum and the lively Muslim Quarter where we explore the Great Mosque and the Islamic food markets before boarding our overnight sleeper train to Beijing.

Day 17: Beijing

Arrive in Beijing this morning and visit the 17th Century Temple of Heaven. In the evening enjoy a sample of the local delicacy ‘Peking Duck’.

Day 18: Beijing

Today we enjoy an exciting walk along the Great Wall, a highlight to any visit to China. Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic show.

Day 19: Beijing

Our sightseeing today involves a stroll through famous Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum followed by a visit to the Forbidden City and the exquisite Summer Palace.

Day 20: Beijing to Australia

This morning enjoy some shopping time at the silk markets before transferring to the airport for our flight home to Australia.

Day 21: Arrive Australia

Arrive home this morning.
