This new tour is the perfect choice to see both the beauty of Sichuan Province as well as the most famous sights in China, visiting the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, the Terracotta Warriors in Xian and the Great Wall in Beijing. We also admire the splendour of Nine Villages Valley, the Grand Buddha at Leshan and the pandas at the famous reserve in Chengdu.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Australia/Shanghai

Fly with Qantas, where upon arrival we will transfer to our hotel for 3 nights. In the evening enjoy a welcoming dinner of traditional Shanghai cuisine.

Days 2-3: Shanghai - Wuzhen

Today we discover the wonders of the picturesque canal town of Wuzhen. The next day we explore the beautiful Yu Gardens, Old Town, Shanghai Museum and the famous Bund. In the evening we enjoy a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.

Day 4: Chengdu

Fly to Chengdu and transfer to our hotel for an overnight stay. Our welcome dinner will be a sumptuous Sichuan meal.

Day 5: Chengdu/Mianyang

This morning visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these adorable creatures. Afterwards we visit the Sanxindui Museum, home to many significant cultural relics unique to Sichuan Province, and continue on to Mianyang.

Days 6-7: Nine Villages Valley

Travel to the breathtaking Nine Villages Valley (Jiuzhaigou), a botanical gallery that is heavily forested and home to many protected species. Entering the valley is like being transported into a different world, where crystal clear lakes gather at the foot of every waterfall and rich coloured forests are dotted with flowers. It is as if one of the world’s most beautiful silk scroll paintings unfolds along this scenic valley. We stay in the Valley for the next 2 nights.

Day 8: Nine Villages Valley/Mao County

We journey by coach to Mao County and en route visit the Huanglong Temple at the head of the valley, where hundreds of sparkling ponds with beautiful colours intertwine. Stay overnight in Mao County.

Day 9: Mao County/Chengdu

On our way back to Chengdu we will visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. Check in to our hotel for 2 nights.

Day 10: Chengdu - Leshan

Travel by coach to Leshan where we will marvel at the Grand Buddha, an enormous statue hewn from the side of Lingyun Mountain.

Days 11-12: Xian

Fly to the ancient city of Xian for 2 nights, in the evening enjoy a sumptuous Shui Jiao meal, a specialty of the region. On the following day we will view the life-size Terracotta Warriors and the ancient City Wall as well as strolling through the lively Muslim Quarter. We complete the day with a performance of Tang Dynasty Dancing.

Day 13: Xian/Beijing

Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the renowned Shaanxi Museum. Afterwards fly to the capital, Beijing for 3 nights where we visit the Temple of Heaven and enjoy a sample of ‘Peking Duck’ in the evening.

Days 14-15: Beijing

Beijing is a city full of wonders. Our sightseeing today includes a visit to the treasure filled Forbidden City and a stroll along Tiananmen Square past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum. Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic Show. On the following day enjoy an exciting walk on the Great Wall and visit the exquisite Summer Palace.

Days 16-17: Beijing/Australia

Board our overnight Qantas flight to Australia arriving home the following morning filled with many happy memories.
