DAYS 1-2: AUSTRALIA TO SHANGHAIFly overnight with Singapore Airlines to Shanghai for a two night stay. Upon arrival you will explore the Pudong area.
DAY 3: SHANGHAIVisit the antiques and fine arts at the Shanghai Museum, Yu Gardens, the Old Town and the Silk Museum. Stroll along the famous Bund. This evening enjoy a cruise along the stunning Huangpu River before feasting on a banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine for dinner.
DAY 4: SHANGHAI TO BEIJINGFly to Beijing this morning and tour the exquisite Summer Palace. This evening sample the local delicacy, Peking Duck.
DAY 5: BEIJINGTake an exciting walk along the world famous Great Wall and the 15th-century Temple of Heaven. This evening enjoy an exciting acrobatics performance.
DAY 6: BEIJING TO XIANThis morning stroll through Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to the Forbidden City. This evening, board your overnight soft sleeper train to Xian.
DAY 7: XIANArrive into Xian and visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Later, walk through the Muslim Quarter and the Islamic food markets. This evening feast on a Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet while enjoying a performance of music and dance dating back to the Tang Dynasty.
DAY 8: XIANExplore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-sized Terracotta Warriors and Horses. You will also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China.
DAY 9: XIAN TO WUHAN – YANGTZE RIVERFly to Wuhan this morning and transfer (approximately 4-5 hours) to Yichang, the boarding point of your Yangtze River cruise for the next four nights.
DAYS 10-12: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISEEnjoy a tour to the Three Gorges Dam before cruising along the mighty Yangtze River. You will pass some of the most beautiful scenery in China and take shore excursions to explore the fascinating historic and tranquil landscapes of the tributaries.
DAY 13: CHONGQING TO GUILINDisembark your cruise in Chongqing and visit the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo. Later you will fly to Guilin.
DAY 14: GUILIN – YANGSHUOCruise along the Li River and admire the breathtaking views of this unique landscape. Your journey takes you past tranquil villages and picturesque scenery. Explore the cobblestone streets of Yangshuo before returning to Guilin.
DAY 15: GUILIN TO KUNMINGVisit the Reed Flute Caves this morning before boarding your flight to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province. For dinner this evening sample Across the Bridge Noodles, a specialty of the region.
DAY 16: KUNMINGEnjoy a full-day tour to the picturesque Stone Forest where massive limestone columns form a forest of surreal shapes and images.
DAY 17: KUNMING TO LIJIANGFly to Lijiang. Located in the foothills of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the town of Lijiang is set within a beautiful valley. Upon arrival wander through the quaint cobblestone streets and around the meandering canals of the Old Quarter. Later this afternoon you will visit the Black Dragon Pool.
DAY 18: LIJIANGVisit the spectacular Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Legend has it that the gorge is so narrow in places that a tiger escaped capture by leaping across.
DAY 19: LIJIANG TO KUNMINGThis morning take a gondola to explore one of the meadows of the impressive Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and enjoy the amazing scenery. Later this afternoon fly to Kunming and enjoy your final evening in China.
DAY 20: DEPART KUNMINGThis morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Kunming airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.
DAY 21: ARRIVE AUSTRALIAArrive home today.
