Dreams of Shangri-La

From $6,805 - 27 Days, Fully Inclusive from selected Australian cities

Almost eighty years ago the author James Hilton released the novel ‘Lost Horizon’, a story about a mystical, harmonious valley of stunning scenery surrounded by soaring mountains and peacefully guided in day to day life from a lamasery, the name of that valley was – Shangri-La!

Join us as we explore one such mystical place at the point where the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Southwest China crosses the borders of Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province and the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is here that we will find a real Shangri-La, a region that enjoys a reputation of being ‘the last pure land in the world’. As well as the natural beauty of towering snow-capped mountains, ancient glaciers, beautiful lakes and vast grasslands, this region is also home to a large number of ethnic cultures such as the Tibetan, Yi, Nu, Bai, Naxi, Lisu, Dulong and Pumi, to name a few. The journey we have planned will not only offer scenes to take your breath away, it will also introduce you to lifestyles and cultures that we can only dream of. Join us on this incredible journey of discovery.
