TOUR ITINERARYDays 1-2: Australia to KunmingFly overnight with Singapore Airlines to Kunming for a 2 night stay. Enjoy a sample of the delicious local speciality ‘Across the Bridge Noodles’ for our welcome dinner. Day 3: KunmingToday we enjoy a tour of the scenic Stone Forest, where massive limestone columns form a vast forest of surreal shapes and images. Later today enjoy a visit to the Western Hills which wrap around Dianchi Lake. Days 4-5: Kunming to DaliThis morning we transfer to the airport to board our flight to Dali for a 2 night stay. Upon arrival we will visit the ancient City and Xizhou Village. Tomorrow we visit the picturesque Three Pagodas, Dali’s ancient quarter and enjoy an afternoon cruise on stunning Erhai Lake. Days 6-7: Dali to LijiangWe leave Dali today and travel to Lijiang where we will visit the Black Dragon Pool before wandering through Lijiang’s ancient quarter admiring the colourful costumes of the Naxi people. The next day we catch a chairlift to explore one of the high meadows of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and to enjoy the amazing scenery. This afternoon we visit the Baisha Frescoes before we enjoy the acclaimed Naxi ancient music show this evening. Day 8: Lijiang to ZhongdianDrive to Zhongdian visiting the Tiger Leaping Gorge en route, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Days 9-10: ZhongdianVisit the Baishui Terrace, where spring water cascades over layers of white limestone pools. Tomorrow we enjoy a visit to Napa Hai Lake and the Songshanlin Monastery. Days 11-13: Zhongdian to Deqing to ZogangLeave Zhongdian for Deqing, ascending into the Hengduan Mountains. Tomorrow visit the Baimang Snow Capped Mountain, with its highest peak at 5,640m and the Feilai Temple, devoted to the spirit of Kawa Karpo. The next day we travel by coach to Zogang visiting Meili Snow Capped Mountain en route. Day 14: Zogang to QamdoWe leave Zogang today and travel to Qamdo, visiting the Yanjing Saltpans en route. Later this afternoon we continue with a visit to the Qambaling Monastery, famous for its well-reserved statues, frescoes and Tangkas. Day 15: QamdoVisit the Red Mountains today, where we will see many ancient cypress trees which have survived 1300 years. We also visit the Karub Ruins, this significant discovery extends the human history of Tibet to about 5,000 years ago. Days 16-17: Qamdo to De’Ga to XinlongDrive to De’Ga today and visit the De’Ga printing house and Chola Mt. Pass which is 5,050m high with views of the Yangtze Gorge below. Tomorrow we leave De’Ga and visit Xinlu Lake, a clear holy alpine lake that is bordered by chorten and rock carvings. Later we continue over Chola Mt. Pass to Xinglong visiting Baili Monastery in Ganzi en route. Day 18: Xinlong to BatangToday we pass Mani Gange Grasslands, driving over Haizi Mt. Pass to Batang visiting Litang Monastery en route. The monastery was founded in 1580 at the appointment of Dalai Lama III. Day 19: Batang to LitangVisit Copu and Genian Scenic Areas, where the famous Copu Lake and Copu Temple are located. We visit the Batang Houses before driving to Litang, where we visit the Eternal Youth Kor Monastery. Day 20: Litang to KangdingDrive to Kangding today, passing over Kazila, Jianziwan and Gao’ersi Mt. Pass’. We view Minya Konka, the highest mountain in Sichuan at a height of 7,590m and Xindu Bridge, before going over Zheduo Mt. Pass into Kangding. Days 21-23: Kangding to Mt. EmeiToday we visit Moge Co Scenic Area, located in the north of Kangding and part of the Gongge Mountain National Park, covering an area of 300sq km. Tomorrow travel by coach to Mt. Emei, one of Buddhism’s most sacred and China’s most impressive mountains. The following day we explore the magnificent Mt. Emei and mingle with the locals and the many pilgrims that pay homage to this holy site. Day 24: Mt. Emei to ChengduDepart Mt. Emei this morning as we travel back to Chengdu by coach. En route we will explore Leshan’s Grand Buddha, an enormous statue carved into the side of the Lingyun Mountain. Day 25: ChengduVisit the famous Panda Research Centre to see these delightful animals being reared in surroundings reminiscent of their native habitat, as well as a local bamboo park. This evening enjoy a Sichuan Banquet as our farewell celebration. Day 26: Depart ChengduEnjoy the morning at leisure before we transfer to the airport to board our overnight flight to Australia. Day 27: Arrive AustraliaArrive home this morning. |
