You will view the antiques and fine arts at the Shanghai Museum and explore the Xintiandi area. Stroll along the famous Bund to see its collection of neo-classical buildings. This evening enjoy a cruise along the stunning Huangpu River. DAY 4: SHANGHAI – EMBARK YANGTZE RIVER CRUISEThe day is free at your leisure until this evening when you board your Victoria Cruises vessel. Spend the next eight nights on board cruising to Chongqing. DAY 5: NANJINGEnjoy a full-day shore excursion to the ancient capital of Nanjing. Later, continue cruising towards Mt. Huang. DAY 6: MT. HUANGEnjoy a shore excursion to Mt. Huang (Yellow Mountain). Take a cable car to the summit to see the spectacular views of rock formations and thousand-year-old pine trees. DAY 12: CHONGQING TO CHENGDUDisembark your cruise in Chongqing this morning and drive to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Enjoy a sumptuous banquet of traditional Sichuan cuisine. DAY 13: CHENGDU TO XIANVisit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to see these famous animals in an environment similar to their natural habitat before flying to Xian. This evening feast on a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet, a specialty of the region, while enjoying a performance of music and dance dating back to the Tang Dynasty. DAY 14: XIANExplore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-sized Terracotta Warriors and Horses. You will also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China. DAY 15: XIAN TO BEIJINGWander through the Muslim Quarter and the Islamic food markets. Fly to Beijing, the capital city of China. Visit the unique 15thcentury Temple of Heaven, one of the most perfect examples of Ming architecture. DAY 16: BEIJINGThis morning stroll through the famous Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum. Visit the treasure-filled Forbidden City, the world’s largest palace complex. Your evening entertainment will be an exciting acrobatics performance. DAY 17: BEIJINGIt is often quoted in Beijing that ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Stretching from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, it is more than 5,000km long. Walk along the wall, admire the panoramic views and reflect on the immensity of the material and labour required for its construction. Later, wander through the landscaped beauty of the Summer Palace. This evening sample the local delicacy, Peking Duck.
