A China Experience

For a brief introduction to China or for visitors with limited time available, our China Experience tour is the perfect choice as it covers the essentials of China in one concise and memorable programme. Visiting such icons as the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, the Terracotta Warriors in Xian as well as the Great Wall and Forbidden City in Beijing; we also have time to explore the charming, ancient canal town of Wuzhen. This tour can also be taken independently to fit in with whatever dates suit each individual.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Australia/Shanghai

Fly with Qantas to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, where upon arrival we will transfer to our hotel for 3 nights. In the evening enjoy a welcoming banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine.

Day 2: Shanghai - Wuzhen

Travel by coach to the picturesque canal town of Wuzhen. We discover its many wonders before returning to Shanghai.

Day 3: Shanghai

Shanghai is known as the ‘Paris of the East’. Experience this exciting city on sightseeing tours of the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town. After lunch we visit the Shanghai Museum, the famous Bund, explore the restored area of Xintiandi with its 1920’s architectural style ‘shikumen’ buildings and indulge in some shopping along Nanjing Road. In the evening enjoy a stunning Huangpu River cruise.

Days 4-5: Xian

Fly to the ancient city of Xian for 2 nights. In the evening enjoy a sumptuous Shui Jiao Banquet, a specialty of the region. On the following day we will view the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors and the ancient City Wall, one of the few remaining in all of China. Complete the day with a performance of Tang Dynasty Dancing.

Day 6: Xian/Beijing

Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, the renowned Shaanxi Museum and stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter, where we will visit the Great Mosque and explore the interesting Islamic food markets. Afterwards fly to the capital, Beijing for 3 nights where we visit the unique Temple of Heaven and enjoy a sample of the local delicacy ‘Peking Duck’ in the evening.

Days 7-8: Beijing

Beijing is a city full of wonders. Our sightseeing today includes a visit to the treasure filled Forbidden City; stroll along famous Tiananmen Square and past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum. Our evening entertainment will be a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic Show. On the following day enjoy an exciting walk on the Great Wall and visit the exquisite Summer Palace.

Day 9: Depart Beijing

Enjoy a shopping spree at the famous Silk Markets before transferring to the airport to board our return flight to Australia.

Day 10: Arrive Australia

Arrive home this morning filled with many wonderful memories.
