TOUR ITINERARYDay 1: Australia to SaigonFly to Saigon with Vietnam Airlines. Upon arrival we will be met by our Vietnamese National Escort and transferred to our hotel. Day 2: Saigon - Mekong Delta (My Tho)Explore the Mekong Delta region, the heart of South Vietnam. Take various boat trips amongst the smaller tributaries to visit local floating markets, villages, home industries and plantations. Day 3: SaigonWe begin our sightseeing around Saigon visiting the Presidential Palace, War Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, Post Office, Cholon, Binh Tay Markets and Tien Hau Pagoda. Day 4: Saigon - Cu Chi TunnelsToday explore the famous Cu Chi Tunnels then continue to Tay Ninh to experience the midday service at the head temple of the unique Cao Dai religion. Days 5-6: Saigon to Hoi An via DanangLeave Saigon this morning and fly to Danang. Upon arrival transfer to the UNESCO listed town of Hoi An stopping at the Cham Museum, Marble Mountains and China Beach en route. Tonight is free to visit the local tailors. Tomorrow undertake a walking tour of the old centre of Hoi An. Visit an old merchant home, the Japanese Bridge, Hoi An market and a local Chinese pagoda and assembly hall. Day 7: Hoi An to HueToday drive over the Hai Van Pass to the ancient capital of Hue. This afternoon take a cyclo ride to the UNESCO listed Citadel, continue by coach to Thien Mu Pagoda before enjoying a boat trip on the Perfume River. This evening partake in a cooking class focusing on select local dishes and cuisine originally designed for the Royal Courts of Hue. Days 8-9: Hue to HanoiStart the day with a visit to Tu Duc and Khai Dinh Royal Tombs stopping en route at an incense-stick making village. Fly to Hanoi this afternoon and in the evening enjoy a performance of the famous Water Puppets. Tomorrow visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), Stilt House and Museum, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature and drive around Hoan Kiem Lake. Later this afternoon enjoy a walking tour around the Old Quarter and markets. Day 10: Hanoi - Halong BayTravel to Halong Bay and cruise through spectacular scenery whilst enjoying a seafood meal onboard. After our cruise we travel back to Hanoi through the Red River Delta. You may choose to leave the group today and stay overnight on the Halong Bay Junk boat before returning to Hanoi airport directly tomorrow afternoon. Days 11-12: Hanoi to AustraliaEnjoy a full day at leisure in Hanoi. After a late checkout at the hotel transfer to the airport to board the overnight flight to Australia, arriving home the following morning. |
