Travelling on the Re-unification Express from Hanoi to Hue this tour stops at sites not normally seen on regular tours to Vietnam making it a more ‘off the beaten track’ journey. Visit places such as Long Tan, the DMZ, Pleiku and the HQ of the 4th and 25th Infantry Divisions which has had a great impact on Vietnam’s Military and War history.

TOUR ITINERARY

Days 1-2: Australia to Hanoi

Begin our Wendy Wu Tours group holiday to Vietnam. Travel to Hanoi with Vietnam Airlines. Tomorrow visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), Stilt House and Museum, One Pillar Pagoda and Temple of Literature. Enjoy a performance of the Water Puppets in the evening.

Days 3-4: Overnight Halong Bay

Travel to Halong Bay and commence an overnight cruise onboard a traditional Junk boat. The following day return to Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi - Reunification Express

Enjoy a walking tour of the Old Quarter and local markets and visit the Temple of Literature. Tonight board the Reunification Express and travel overnight to Dong Ha.

Day 6: Dong Ha (DMZ) to Hue

Disembark at Dong Ha and drive to the DMZ, visit Vinh Moc tunnels and Ben Hai Bridge before continuing to Hue. Enjoy a cyclo ride to the Citadel. This evening partake in a cooking class.

Days 7-9: Hue to Hoi An

Cruise the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda, before visiting Tu Duc and Khai Dinh Tombs. Drive to Hoi An visiting Marble Mountains, China Beach and Cham Museum en route. Tomorrow enjoy a walking tour of the old centre of Hoi An, visiting an old merchant home, the Japanese Bridge, Hoi An market and a local Chinese pagoda. The following day visit My Son.

Days 10-11: Hoi An to Pleiku

Fly to Pleiku. Visit Camp Enari and the hill tribe villages in Gia Lai. Enjoy a traditional show and sample Can wines this evening. Tomorrow visit Bien Ho (Sea Lake), continue to Dak To via Kontum, swap stories with ethnic Bahnar people. Drive back to Kontum for lunch before we visit the Wood Church and Camp Halloway.

Day 12: Pleiku to Saigon

Fly to Saigon. Visit the Presidential Palace, War Remnants Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Cholon, Thien Hau Pagoda and drive by the Binh Tay wholesale market.

Day 13: Saigon - Nui Dat/Vung Tau

Drive to Nui Dat and visit the battle field of Long Tan. In Vung Tau visit the Lighthouse, the former Royal residence Bach Dinh, the Reclining Buddha and Back Beach.

Days 14-15: Mekong Delta/Cu Chi

Explore the Mekong Delta. Take various boat trips to visit local floating markets, villages, home industries and plantations. Tomorrow tour Cu Chi Tunnels, stopping at the Tropic Lightning, HQ of the 25th Infantry Division en route. Continue to Tay Ninh to experience the midday service of the unique Cao Dai religion.

Days 16-17: Saigon to Australia

After a late checkout, board our overnight flight to Australia. Arrive home the following morning.
