Yangtze & Tibet EncountersFrom $4,780 - 19 Days - Fully Inclusive From AustraliaOur journey starts in Beijing where we visit the Great Wall and travel to Xian to see the wondrous Terracotta Warriors. Take a four night cruise on the Yangtze River to relax whilst surveying the stunning scenery in the Three Gorges. Explore Lhasa in depth, visiting several of the mystical Tibetan temples, and the ancient streets of the Barkhor, where shoppers and devoted pilgrims create a mediaeval atmosphere. Our journey ends with a visit to the Panda Reserve in Chengdu. TOUR ITINERARYDays 1-2: Australia to BeijingOvernight flight to Beijing with Singapore Airlines. Upon arrival we will be transferred to our hotel for 3 nights. This evening enjoy a sample of the local delicacy, ‘Peking Duck’. Days 3-5: Beijing to XianVisit Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace and the Forbidden City. The following day enjoy an exciting walk on the Great Wall and tour the Temple of Heaven. Our evening entertainment will be a Chinese Acrobatic Show. The next day, shop at the copy markets, before boarding our overnight sleeper train to Xian. Days 6-7: XianAfter arrival visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi Museum. Take a stroll through the Muslim Quarter and enjoy a sumptuous Shui Jiao Banquet. Tomorrow visit the Terracotta Warriors and the Ancient City Wall. This evening enjoy a Tang Dynasty Dancing Show. Day 8: Xian to Wuhan (Yangtze Cruise)Fly to Wuhan and transfer by coach (approx 6 hours) to board our Yangtze River Cruise boat for the next 4 nights. Days 9-11: Yangtze River CruiseEnjoy a tour to the Three Gorges Dam before cruising on the mighty Yangtze River. Along the way we will cruise through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, the Three Gorges and take some shore excursions to explore the fascinating history and tranquil landscapes of the tributary streams (subject to change). Explore the Lesser Three Gorges, see the ‘trackers path’ carved out of the steep rock walls of the gorges, or alternatively cruise up the Shennong Stream. Visit the temples and statues of the ‘Ghost City’ in Fengdu. Day 12: Chongqing to ChengduDisembark from our cruise vessel and travel to Chengdu for an overnight stay. Day 13: Chengdu to LhasaFly to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet for 4 nights. Days 14-16: LhasaVisit the Jokhang Temple and wander through the Barkhor pilgrim circuit, and the Sera and Drepung Monasteries. Tomorrow we visit the Potala Palace. The following day we visit a Tibetan Primary School and Norpulinka the Summer Palace. Day 17: Lhasa to ChengduReturn to Chengdu and visit the Panda Reserve. Enjoy a Sichuan banquet as our farewell dinner. Days 18-19: Chengdu to AustraliaTransfer to the airport for our overnight flight to Australia. Arrive home the following morning. |
