Visit the Ethnology Museum and enjoy a cyclo-rickshaw tour of the Old Quarter. Tonight see the famous Water Puppets. (D) Day 2: Halong BayDrive to Halong Bay and board your overnight Junk Boat. Set sail for Hang Toi Island for an afternoon kayak around the bay. A fresh seafood dinner and optional night paddle will end your day. (B, L, D) Days 3-4: Halong BaySpend the next two days kayaking through caves around Halong Bay. Visit Fish Farm Island and paddle through sea tunnels and along the coast. Dine and sleep on the escort boat or on the beach near Tito Beach. Overnight onboard. (B,L,D) Day 5: Hanoi to Lao CaiDepart for the northern coast of Cat Ba Island to paddle through its caves and grottoes. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon to board the night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on Tulinco/Ratraco train (B,L,D) Day 6: Lao Cai/Sapa to Thanh Phu & Sin ChaiArrive in Lao Cai and transfer to your Sapa hotel to freshen up. Drive from Sapa to Su Pan by jeep before hiking to the Tay village of Ban Ho. After enjoying a swim in the nearby river continue towards another Tay village, Thanh Phu. Here have lunch in a local house before enjoying a 2 hour walk to the Red Dao minority village, Sin Chai. Overnight home-stay (approx. 5 hours walk). (B,L,D) Day 7: Xa PhoTrek to the village of Nam Sai (Tay tribe). Continue to one of the four Xa Pho villages (Xa Pho tribe), visiting a school whilst lunch is prepared. Continue through two other Xa Pho villages before reaching the village of Nam Keng. Overnight home-stay (approx. 5 hours walk). (B,L,D) Day 8: Sapa to Lao CaiFrom Nam Keng, pass several suspended bridges before reaching the Tay village of Ban Ho where you can take a swim in the river, while your cook is preparing lunch. Hike back to Su Pan and back to Sapa by jeep. A shuttle bus will later bring us to Lao Cai station and we will board the night train back to Hanoi. We will dine and spend the night on the train, passing through the countryside as we sleep. Overnight on Tulinco/Ratraco train (approx 4 hours walk). (B, L, D) Day 9: Depart HanoiArrive in Hanoi at 0500 and transfer to the hotel (day use). The remainder of the day is at leisure until your airport transfer. (B) |
