TOUR ITINERARY

Wendy Wu Tours Review: "Just a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed our Wendy Wu tour of China. China is a brilliant place to tour.

We've holidayed in 32 countries so we know what we like. It really was beyond our expectations. It was the best organised and the best value for money tour we've ever been on. The Hotels and Restaurants were of such a high standard that not 1 of our tour group had the slightest touch of an upset stomach.

Our tour director Frank was outstanding in making sure everything ran as it should. I really like the idea of all inclusive tours like this one. It was just one highlight after another.

I'll be reccomending a Wendy Wu tour of China to anyone who's thinking of going there."

Days 1-2: Australia to Beijing

Fly overnight to Beijing with Singapore Airlines via Singapore for 3 nights.

Day 3: Beijing

This morning we stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, before walking through the Forbidden City. This afternoon we visit the Temple of Heaven, built in the 15th Century and enjoy a rickshaw ride through the traditional hutongs. Tonight our welcoming banquet includes a sample of the local delicacy, ‘Peking Duck’.

Day 4: Beijing

An often quoted saying in Beijing goes ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Begun over 2000 years ago, it stretches all the way from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, more than 5,000km away. Walk along the wall admiring the panoramic views and reflect on the enormity of the material and labour required for its construction. It is estimated that a million people were used at different stages during the construction periods and that thousands died building it. This afternoon we will also wander through the landscaped beauty of the Summer Palace and enjoy a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic show in the evening.

Day 5: Beijing to Xian

We fly to Xian this morning. Upon arrival we visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum before enjoying a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling Banquet this evening.

Day 6: Xian

Visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors, followed by the ancient City Wall. We stroll through the Muslim Quarter to visit the Great Mosque and explore the Islamic food markets. This evening enjoy a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 11: Chongqing to Guilin

We disembark from our cruise in Chongqing this morning and visit the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo, home to some of the most adored animals in China, who are now also the cute and memorable mascot for the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). Transfer to the airport and fly to the beautiful city of Guilin, one of China's greener and more picturesque cities where we will stay overnight.

Day 12: Guilin (Li River Cruise) to Yangshuo

Today we enjoy a cruise along the Li River as we travel to the town of Yangshuo for an overnight stay. Our boat journey takes us past tranquil farming and fishing scenes and picturesque villages. Spend the evening walking the cobblestone streets or relax in a street side cafe and enjoy the colourful atmosphere of this enchanting town.

Enjoy a morning visit to the colourful local markets and wander through the charming town before returning to Guilin. Upon arrival this afternoon we will visit the stunning Reed Flute Caves.

Day 15: Shanghai

Further explore this exciting city with visits to the Yu Gardens and the Old Town. Enjoy a stroll along the famous Bund and its collection of 1920s neo classical buildings, the Pudong area and the Xintiandi area with its unique style of shikumen' buildings. As our farewell celebration we cruise on the stunning Huangpu River.
