Bordering Tibet to the east, and bearing its influence, Ladakh was given the name of ‘Little Tibet’. Due to variable weather conditions, this package is only available from June to September when you can fully appreciate the beauty of the Indus Valley in the shadow of the Himalaya.
This is a private short stay package for the independent traveller.
DAY 1: ARRIVE LEH
Upon arrival in Leh you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free at your leisure to help you acclimatise to the altitude (3,505m).
DAY 2: LEH
Visit the Shankar Gompa, belonging to the Gelukpa or ‘yellow hat sect’ of Buddhists. Continue to the ruins of the 17th-century Leh Palace, perched on the side of a mountain, and the Stok Palace, a royal residence and museum. (B,L)
DAY 3: LEH
Enjoy a full day of sightseeing to the Tibetan Buddhist gompas and monasteries of Shey, Thiksey, Taktak and Hemis. (B,L)
DAY 4: LEH
Follow the Indus River westwards to Alchi Village and visit the historic Alchi Gompa, a Buddhist monastery. (B,L)
DAY 5: DEPART LEH
After check-out this morning you will be transferred to Leh airport where your arrangements end. (B)
