Saigon, also referred to as Ho Chi Minh City, is a vibrant city offering a fascinating introduction to Vietnamese culture. Travel further north to the former French hill station of Dalat, where you will witness exquisite countryside.

Take some time to relax and swim in Nha Trang, Vietnam premier beach destination. Continue to the quaint town of Hoi An, where you can relax by the riverside and learn to cook Vietnamese cuisine. Finish your tour in the north; visit Ho Chi Minh Complex in Hanoi and cruise around stunning Halong Bay.

For the curious and open-minded visitor, Vietnam offers a wealth of historical and natural treasures.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: AUSTRALIA TO SAIGON

Fly with Vietnam Airlines to Saigon for a four night stay.

DAY 2: SAIGON

Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office to view the French Colonial architecture. Learn more about the American War in Vietnam with a visit to the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. End the day at the lively Ben Thanh Market, where you can enjoy some shopping.

DAY 3: SAIGON – MEKONG DELTA

Travel to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Explore the river by boat, passing stilt houses and fish farms. Paddle through palm-lined canals in sampans and walk through villages, where you can sample local tea. Later this afternoon you will return to Saigon.

DAY 4: SAIGON – CU CHI & TAY NINH

Explore the amazing network of the Cu Chi Tunnels led by a War Veteran who lived in the tunnels for years. Later, travel to Tay Ninh to experience the midday service at the head temple of the unique Cao Dai religion.

DAY 5: SAIGON TO DALAT

Fly to Dalat and visit the peaceful Xuan Huong Lake.

DAY 6: DALAT

Visit Domain de Marie Church, Da Thien flower and vegetable garden hamlet and an embroidery shop. After lunch visit the former railway station and take an open-air train ride to Trai Mat Hamlet enjoying the serene views of the Dalat Plateau. End the day strolling through the Dalat Market.

DAY 7: DALAT TO NHA TRANG

Travel to the coastal town of Nha Trang, the capital of Khanh Hoa Province.

DAY 8: NHA TRANG

Enjoy a boat trip to the nearby islands off the coast of Nha Trang, where you can go for a swim. This afternoon return to Nha Trang.

DAY 9: NHA TRANG TO HOI AN

Fly to Danang and travel to the UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Hoi An. Upon arrival tour the charming town of Hoi An on foot, visiting the vibrant Hoi An Market, a local Chinese temple and the Japanese Covered Bridge.

DAY 10: HOI AN

Visit a market to purchase fresh ingredients, then travel along the river to the Red Bridge Restaurant for a cooking class.

DAY 11: HOI AN TO HUE

Head north over the scenic Hai Van Pass to Hue. Take a cyclo to the Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City. Later, visit Thien Mu Pagoda and cruise along the Perfume River.

DAY 12: HUE TO HANOI (via Danang)

Hue Airport will be closed from the 20th of March until the 20th of November 2013. During this time our group tours that fly in/out of Hue Airport with Vietnam Airlines will be flying in/out of Danang Airport instead.

This morning you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Royal Tomb of Minh Mang before transferring to Danang Airport through the Hai Van Tunnel to fly to Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Here you will find a blend of French and Vietnamese architecture alongside lakes and tree-lined boulevards.

DAY 13: HANOI

Visit Ho Chi Minh Complex to see Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), Humble House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda. Visit the Temple of Literature and the bustling Old Quarter. This evening watch the famous Water Puppets performance.

DAY 14: HANOI – HALONG BAY

Travel to Halong Bay and board a junk boat for a relaxing cruise around the limestone islets and through the emerald waters. After lunch on board, travel back to Hanoi.

DAY 15: DEPART HANOI

This morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Hanoi airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.

DAY 16: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA

Arrive home today.
