Guangzhou (Canton) is a prosperous city located on the banks of the Pearl River. It has convenient access to Hong Kong and Macau and is renowned worldwide for its Cantonese cuisine. It is an important centre of foreign trade, making it a shoppers’ paradise. Flights with China Southern Airlines fly via Guangzhou and there are many historical sites to see.
This is a private short stay package for the independent traveller.
DAY 1: ARRIVE GUANGZHOU
Make your own way to your Guangzhou hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.
DAY 2: GUANGZHOU
Visit the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, a monument dedicated to this important fi gure in the Chinese Revolution. Continue to the Chen Family Temple, now a museum of folk craft and architecture. Next explore Yuexiu Park, the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. From here, head to the Six Banyan Trees Temple, which was built in 537AD and is a renowned Buddhist cultural site. The temple enshrines three large Buddhist statues. The 184-foot pagoda appears to have nine stories; inside, however, there are 17 levels. Because of the colourful exterior carvings, it is popularly known as the Flower Pagoda. (B,L)
