Book your expedition cruise to Antarctica with Wendy Wu Tours
We're delighted to be offering Antarctic Expedition cruising from November 2021. Order your copy of our Latin America & Antarctica brochure for more details and watch this space for more exciting developments coming soon.
The last frontier of travel surely must be Antarctica, and your journey begins as you cross the vastness of the Southern Ocean. This pristine wilderness remains an adventurer’s wonderland, remote, and untamed, from the stunning ethereal beauty of a gigantic iceberg, to the abundance of wildlife and tales of explorers from a bygone era. Antarctica is an awe-inspiring destination unlike any other.
Antarctica has a short season and the best time to travel is between November and March. Begin the season with birds and penguins courting and mating, whilst December and January experience 20 hours of sunshine, warmer temperatures, and the ice melting. Later in the season is the time for whale watching and seeing the penguin chicks fledging, while temperatures begin to drop again.
Life on an expedition cruise is unlike regular cruising, you will have the chance to enjoy lectures and workshops presented by the experienced Expedition Team whilst at sea. Spend time on deck looking for wildlife. Enjoy multiple landings, Zodiac cruises and have the choice of sea kayaking, paddle program (offered on some voyages), stand up paddle boarding, camping and Flightseeing (Ultramarine voyages only).
The vessels we have selected are well-known, award winning and small. The fleet can accommodate between 128 to 199 passengers making it ideal for Antarctic expeditions. Small ships can take you to areas that larger vessels are unable to reach. Not all landings can accommodate large groups so smaller ships mean smaller groups thus leaving a smaller environmental footprint.
Antarctica offers a wealth of wonderful sights and experiences. What better way to explore them than on a Wendy Wu tour?
