Tequila

Just an hour from Guadalajara, afloat in a sea of blue agave, Tequila was the birthplace of its namesake spirit. Tequila has been produced here since the 16^th century; while things have modernised between then and now, you’ll still find craft distilleries producing in the old ways.

The village itself is charming and cobblestoned, with far-reaching views that take in rolling agave covered hills and the towering Volcan de Tequila, thanks to which the soil is so perfect for growing blue agave. Head to the Museo Nacional de Tequila to learn more about the history of tequila and the town and make sure to pop to one of the many distilleries for a tour and tasting - many of them are hidden in lovely, colonial-era haciendas.
