The 25 day Wendy Wu Tours Grand Tour of China was well paced and well organised, with special thanks to national guide, Betty. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour as an introduction to China. In complete contrast the separate two night, three day Hong Kong Glimpses stopover we asked Wendy Wu to organise at the conclusion of our Grand Tour of China was a shocker. The information provided was inadequate, the room in the Dorsett Hotel Wanchai was tiny and the hotel itself was a time capsule from the 1980s.

The tour gives a comprehensive insight into both an ancient culture and a modern thriving economy. The transport and accommodation arrangements were excellent as was the overall organisation and smooth operation throughout. The national and local guides were very professional, efficient and patient and spoke good English -nothing was too much trouble for them. This is a long and perhaps tiring tour but extremely fulfilling.

The Silk Road tour was good overall with our very good national guide Sophie Jin . We did the Grand Tour of China with Wendy Wu in 2024 . We have already been to Xian twice before the Silk Road tour and to Beijing quite a few times before. So , I would suggest to Wendy Wu tours to organise something different for those who have already been to Xian and Beijing. There were a few people in our group who were in the same situation as us and have already been to these cities before. Apart from Xian and Beijing, everything else was new and this is where it becomes interesting and where the real tour started for us.
Xinjiang is very interesting and different from the other parts of China. There is a lot of long travel by coach in Xinjiang and may I suggest to cut down on those by replacing them with a single airplane trip and cutting down on some of the nonessential towns.
One other issue is the midday meal which tends to affect the program of the day.
Most people in the group felt we were having too much food in the middle of the day. May I suggest cutting down on a full meal at lunch and bring a picnic or sandwiches for lunch which would give more flexibility to the day program.
Overall, I enjoyed the Silk Road tour . Our national guide Sophie Jin worked very hard to make sure we all have a good and safe tour and I am very grateful to her.

Excellent itinerary covering Beijing, Great Wall, temples, Terra-cotta Warriors, Pandas, bullet trains and more. The first 2 weeks were full on. Meals were really good Chinese food. Hotels were excellent locations and of 4 stars or higher. Our national guide (Summer) stayed with us through out the trip, with supporting local guides.

Service that could not be faulted

Our tour guide David was amazing going above and beyond to ensure our group had a fabulous time. 🤩 The trip is great, but heavy going, with a lot to packed in. Be prepared for early starts, long days, and time sitting on trains, coaches and airports.. In retrospect I’d reduce days spent on the Yangtze and add those days onto Shanghai (so much to see and do). 🤔 Pack light, take a light rain -Mac, spare trainers, use either Alipay or WeChat - both widely used (more than cash or credit cards) in China. Most of all be prepared to be amazed and say ‘WOW’ a lot😉

Great way to see China, However trip 3 days to long should have spent one more night in Guling then on to Shanghai for 3 nights food reasonable to start with ,poor towards the end of trip to many lazy Susans

This is quite a fast paced tour that covers a lot of sites in China. The hotels are clean with friendly staff. Food is okay but contain a lot of oil and fatty meat with bones in it. Our tour manager and expert tour guide were very good and looked after us really well.

A lot of walking is required on average you will do about 15000 steps as thee is a lot of sight seeing. Be prepared for crowds as there are a lot of holiday makers out and about. The shows that you are taken to a night are excellent and with going to.

All in all a great experience.
