A 160-kilometre road that passes mountains, forest and canyon, the Panorama Route is considered one of the most scenic drives in the world. Following the descent of the Great Escarpment down to the lush landscapes of the Lowveld, all scenically backed by the Drakensburg Mountains, the route is dotted with a series of landmarks and extraordinary views that stretch endless over the lowlands towards Kruger National Park.
Must stops on the route include the Blyde River Canyon, the third deepest canyon in the world and Bourke’s Luck Potholes, a series of cylindrical holes eroded by the river at the canyon’s mouth, the Three Rondavels, a trio of peaks that resemble traditional huts and God’s Window, a spectacular viewpoint.
