Suncheon

Suncheon is a small city in the far south of Korea, situated on the East China Sea. The city is the gateway to the many natural and cultural wonders of the South Jeolla province, known for its stunning temples and fortresses and close association with tea. 

In the outskirts of the city lie Seonamsa or the Seonam Temple. This UNESCO heritage sights is one of the most treasured temples in Korean Buddhism. The amazing grounds with their amazing pools and islands are balanced by the traditional Korean architecture of the temples and other buildings that make up this spectacular complex.  

Also, on the outskirts of the city Naganeupseong and ancient Korean walled town. It is an excellent place to learn about the Korean history of the area, and the cities intriguing history with the Wokou pirates.  

A little further outside of the city is the amazing Boseong Tea plantations. This is said to be the best area in all of Korea to grow Tea and the fragrant experience of these Tea plantations are both relaxing and inspiring.  

Meanwhile the heart of the city is experiencing an economic resurgence of its own that allows you to see the fascinating mix of Ancient Korean tradition with modern Korean strength.
