Visit Ciqikou on a holiday to China
One of the most popular things to do in Chongqing is visit Ciqikou Ancient Town, a historic riverside town located on the banks of the Jialing River. Once a thriving port and centre of porcelain production during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), Ciqikou is now one of Chongqing’s best-preserved cultural districts.
Stroll through narrow streets lined with traditional Ming-era architecture, local teahouses and small shops selling regional snacks, handicrafts and souvenirs. While the main street can be lively, wandering into the maze of side alleys reveals a quieter, more authentic side of Ciqikou where locals still live and work.
A highlight of the town is the 1,500-year-old Baolun Temple, famous for its beautiful traditional design and said to have been built without a single nail. With its scenic riverside setting and reputation for excellent feng shui, Ciqikou Ancient Town has long been considered a place where nature and culture exist in harmony, making it a fascinating stop on any Chongqing tour.
