Fly overnight via Dubai to Amman. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Al Salt, a hillside town known for its Ottoman architecture, is the first visit of the day. You will continue onto Jerash, also referred to as the Pompeii of the East, to experience a favoured Roman pastime, a gladiator show and chariot race. The last stop today will be Ajloun, where you visit the fortress of Qal'at ar-Rabad that overlooks the Jordan Valley.
Enjoy a city tour of Amman, taking in the Citadel and Roman Amphitheatre, before visiting the Desert Castles, each a beautiful example of early Islamic art and architecture. On return to Amman, participate in a Nai workshop making the traditional flute used in Middle Eastern music.
Travel to the site of Moses' Tomb, Mount Nebo, where local church floors are still covered with marvellous and intricate mosaics. Continue to the town of Madaba visiting Madaba Mosaic Map, the oldest surviving depiction of the Holy Land, and St George Church. Later this afternoon you will arrive in Petra.
Today, you will explore the caves and tombs of this 'Lost City', Jordan's most valuable treasure. It is surrounded by imposing mountains and has many locations within, such as The Siq, The Dam, Bab Al Siq and the popular Treasury. Petra is unique, unforgettable and an overwhelming experience, and you have the afternoon at leisure before returning this evening to see it under candlelight.
En route to Wadi Rum you will stop at Little Petra, a smaller version of Petra. Then, travel to Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, which is inhabited by Bedouin nomads. The area offers unspoilt desert landscapes with a mass of soaring cliffs and granite mountains. A drive over the sand dunes will allow for further exploration later today. Stay overnight in a desert camp, dining under the stars just as the Bedouin nomads do.
Depart the desert camp and journey to the Dead Sea, an inland saltwater lake between Jordan and Israel. As the lowest body of water on Earth, the high level of salinity allows one to float while the minerals are beneficial to your skin. You will have the afternoon to explore the surrounding area.
Transfer from the Dead Sea to Tel Aviv by road. On arrival you will check into your hotel and have time to relax.
The day begin's with exploring Jaffa, the world's oldest active harbour. Continue to Caesarea to view the fascinating Roman ruins. Visit the Druze Villages on the slopes of Mount Carmel before a stop at the street bazaars to interact with the local community, then drive to Mukhraga for a view of the Holy Land. Finish the day in Tiberias, on the shores of the famous Sea of Galilee.
Visit Kibbutz Degania B to learn about its development before continuing to Tabgha, the site of the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes. Head to Capernaum to visit the Ancient Synagogue and House of St. Peter Mount of Beatitudes is where the Sermon on the Mount took place and you will visit a hilltop town rich in Jewish mysticism before returning to Tiberias.
Drive through the scenic Jordan Valley, into Palestinian Territory, to Qasr El Yahud the original site of Jesus' baptism. Continue to Jericho where you will visit Quarental monastery. After lunch drive to the Dead Sea, where floating in the mineral-rich waters is the perfect end to this day.
Drive to Masada this morning where you will take a cable car to the top of Masada Fortress, where as well as the wonderful view, you will learn of the last stand by Jewish rebels against the Romans. Continue to Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered and enjoy lunch. You will continue your journey to Bethlehem, in Palestinian Territory, for a one night stay. Enjoy a Palestinian dancing show during dinner this evening.
Visit the Church of Nativity before driving to Mount Zion where you will visit the Cenacle, King David's Tomb and Dormition Abbey. After lunch continue to Mount of Olives to visit Pater Noster Church and the Church of Ascension. Visit the garden of Gethsemane before venturing into Western Jerusalem to see the Hebrew University, Parliament House and the Supreme Court.
Explore Jerusalem today by driving to Dung Gate to visit Temple Mount, the famous building of the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aksa Mosque. Continue to the Western Wall, the holiest place of Judaism, and Tunnel, taking a journey back in time walking the Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. End the day with a Shabbat dinner prepared by a local Rabbi.
This morning travel overland from Tel Aviv to Amman, Jordan in time to connect with overnight flights to Australia.
