Fly to the vibrant and bustling city of Bangkok. (D)
Bangkok is an exotic assault on the senses, a whirlwind of chaos, refinement and rewarding sights. A city of many faces, go from tranquil golden temples to forests of gleaming skyscrapers before experiencing authentic Asia on bustling streets. Today’s sightseeing includes Wat Pho and the dazzling Grand Palace. Take to the Chao Phraya River on a longboat getting an alternative view of the city as you cruise to the Pak Klong Talaat Flower Market, then stroll through Chinatown. Enjoy dinner whilst watching a traditional music and dance show.(B,L,D)
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and experience the Maeklong railway market. Board an overnight train to Chiang Mai, in Thailand's north. (B,L,D)
The antithesis of Bangkok, Chiang Mai is a chilled out, nonchalant city in the foothills of Thailand’s northern highlands. Take a cyclo tour of the city, visit Flok Life Museum, admire Wat Chedi Luang and ascend to Wat Doi Suthep perched on top of Doi Suthep Mountain. This evening enjoy a traditional Kantoke dinner and a performance of the ancient songs and dances of northern Thailand. Wander through the night bazaar in search of bargains. (B,L,D)
Start the day with a relaxed mind as you join a group meditation session before heading up into the Suthep-Pui Mountains. Tonight you will spend the night at the H’mong Hilltribe Lodge amidst the striking natural beauty of the region. This evening enjoy a barbecue dinner and a cultural show. (BLD)
Depart the Hilltribe Lodge for the Thai Elephant Care Centre to spend some time meeting and feeding the beautiful pachyderms. Later, board a long tail boat on Mae Kok River to Baan Pha Tai, where you’ll continue by road to Chiang Rai. Explore the colourful night market. (B,L,D)
Explore the laidback, small town charm of Chiang Rai, visiting the eccentric White Temple and Doi Mae Salong, a hill village once at the heart of the area’s notorious opium trade. (B,L,D)
Transfer to the Thai-Laos border and climb aboard a boat to cruise along the Mekong taking in the scenery as you go. Stop at Pakbeng to visit the village of Ban Houei Lumpane before settling in for the night. (B,L,D)
Back on the river, continue your leisurely cruise to the beautiful city of Luang Prabang, stopping at the fascinating Pak Ou Caves, a riverside cavern that is full of statues of Buddha that can no longer be used for worship. (B,L,D)
An enchanting city, Luang Prabang is the quintessential image of Laos – a place of vivid colours with an extremely rich heritage and enduring French legacy. Take a city tour, seeing sights including Wat Visoun and Wat Xieng Thong. After lunch, visit Ban Xang Khong craft village and spend some time at a local wat, chatting with the friendly monks who love to practice their English. (B,L,D)
Rise early to witness the Buddhist ceremony of Takbat, when the monks of Luang Prabang’s monastic communities collect alms. These lines of silent saffron robe-clad monks will be an enduring image of your trip. After breakfast, ascend Phousi Hill for views over the town and see the treasures at the National Museum. Head out of the town to enjoy the cascading turquoise waters of the enchanting Kuang Si Waterfalls before returning to Luang Prabang via Ock Pop Tok Weaving Centre. (B,L,D)
Catch a flight to Laos’ capital city, Vientiane. (B,L,D)
Nestled in a sleepy bend of the Mekong, Vientiane is a delightfully quaint city, more a friendly backwater than a chaotic capital. Spend the day exploring with a visit to Talaat Sao market, Wat Si Saket, Wat Phra Keo (a former temple that now houses a museum), That Luang Stupa, and the Patuxai Victory Monument, known as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane. Finally, explore Buddha Park. Later, enjoy dinner and a traditional Laos music and dance performance. (B,L,D)
Enjoy a free morning in Vientiane, making the most of the leisurely pace of life before your flight to Australia, arriving home the same or following day. (B)
All of our tour departures include international flights and taxes in the price. Our tour prices are from prices based on per person, twin share and are subject to the availability of specific economy class fare levels. If the dates we have available for this tour don't suit your needs, or you are not sure travelling as part of a group is for you, maybe a Private Tour would be more ideal.
Most nationalities require a visa when travelling to Laos. Australian passport holders do not require a visa to travel to Thailand. Please ensure any visas are arranged well in advance of departure. Unlike many other tour operators, we include your Laos visa in the price of your tour. We handle the entire application process – all you need to do is complete the paperwork and send your passport to us eight weeks prior to departure. We are always on hand to help you with any queries you may have while completing the application form.
While travelling overseas, the Wendy Wu Tours contact number during business hours is +61 2 9224 8888.

You will find mobile phone coverage to be quite high throughout Asia. We recommend contacting your mobile carrier if you intend to use international roaming during your holiday and ensure you investigate all associated call and data costs before you leave Australia. Some hotels may have Wi-Fi, which usually comes at a cost.
Tipping is not commonplace in Australia. In Asia however, it is anticipated that a tip be given to reward good service. With that in mind, we have a tipping system for our group tours.
The total tipping amount for this tour will be divided up – one portion for Laos and one portion for Thailand. Each passenger ‘tips’ a set amount to the National Escort in Laos and then Thailand on arrival in each country. They then distribute this as appropriate. We confirm the tipping amounts in your final documentation.
Shopping is a fun and entertaining component to any travel adventure. In keeping with most people’s interests while on holiday, your tour includes a reasonable number of opportunities to shop for local goods and souvenirs. Included are visits to establishments that provide locally produced goods, unique to your destination. Witness the creation of these products, and see first-hand how their production supports the local economy. As most travellers like to take home souvenirs, we ensure the shops you visit have a reputation for quality, honesty, and authenticity.
We aim to cater to the tastes of the majority of people and so the food is not too spicy or too unusual.
Breakfast at your hotel includes local and western dishes. In remote areas, we suggest embracing local specialities. Lunch and dinner consists of shared dishes.
Drinks are at your own expense.
Please ensure you specify any dietary requirements at the time of booking. We suggest also mentioning it to the National Escort on arrival. They will do their utmost to cater to any special requests, such as vegetarian meals or foods to avoid in the case of allergies.
Wendy Wu Tours inspects all hotels to ensure they meet the high levels of service, which we require for our guests. We pick the right hotel for the specific destination, meaning your accommodation can range from a smart business hotel in one city to a family-run guesthouse in a smaller town. Hotels are also chosen for ease of navigation around tourist sights. View Hotels Here
