Kata Tjuta Holidays

Celebrating 25 Years of tour excellence

Approximately 40 kilometres west of Uluru and 495 kilometres from Alice Springs is Kata Tjuta, a rock formation that is equally as breathtaking and just as culturally significant as its famous neighbour. These red domes rising up from the barren landscape take on an ethereal glow at sunrise and sunset.

The name Kata Tjuta translates to ‘Many Heads’, in reference to the 36 rock domes that rise from the landscape, covering over 20 square kilometres of national park. The many crevices providing opportunities for flora and fauna to thrive in the harsh desert climate.

This is site is very important to the local Anangu people for sacred men's business and is pivotal in dream time stories. Taking a guided tour in this region is important in understanding the local heritage and significance.

Between the massive domes of Kata Tjuta is Walpa gorge. Take a moment to listen to the wind, named Walpa, as it whistles through the gorge, gently shaping and weathering the rock as it goes. There’s no better way to enjoy the sunset than on the Walpa Gorge walk followed by champagne and nibbles from the Viewing Platform at Kata Tjuta.
