Fly to Delhi for a two-night stay.
Delhi is split into two areas; Old Delhi and New Delhi. Explore Old Delhi; drive past the Red Fort, walk through Chandni Chowk Bazaar to Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. Discover New Delhi, visiting the Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple. After lunch, view India Gate before visiting Gandhi Smriti and Qutub Minar, the 12thcentury, hand-carved, 73 metre tall iron pillar.
Depart for Agra and visit Agra Fort, a hulking mass of red sandstone sat on the banks of the Yamuna River. The Fort was established in the 16th-century but has been much added to over time, making it an eclectic mix of architectural styles.
Rise early to see the sun rise over India’s most iconic sight. At dawn, when the crowds are at their thinnest, the Taj Mahal is swathed in mist and tinged pink by the rising sun – a magical experience. Later, take a train to Jhansi station stopping in Orchha en route. Travel onwards to Khajuraho
Today, tour the Eastern and Western groups of Khajuraho’s impressive temples. This afternoon fly to Varanasi and take a rickshaw to the ghats of the River Ganges to witness the Puja ceremony of Ganga Aarti.
Take an early morning boat ride along the River Ganges, followed by a brief city tour of Varanasi. Later this afternoon visit the Buddhist sites at Sarnath.
Fly to Jaipur. On arrival, visit the Maharaja’s City Palace, still home of the city’s royal family today, and Jantar Mantar Observatory, a fascinating collection of wonderful instruments designed to measure the heavens.
Start with a photo stop this morning at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) before visiting the majestic Amber Fort, a colossal 16thcentury yellow and pink sandstone fort. Later this afternoon, visit a craft centre to learn about traditional artistries such as block printing and carpet weaving before browsing the local bazaar at Choti Choper.
Drive to Jodhpur. Have the afternoon at leisure before taking a walking tour to explore the local vegetable and spice market in the evening.
This morning visit Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the museum located in the Umaid Bhawan Palace. Take an auto rickshaw to a local restaurant for lunch before enjoying the afternoon at leisure.
Drive to Udaipur, stopping en route at Chittor Fort. One of the largest forts in India, Chittor sprawls across a hilltop overlooking the town of Chittorgarh. Continue to Udaipur, a city of lakes, palaces and temples. Relax on a cruise along Lake Pichola, admiring the city’s palaces from the water.
Today, explore the city, starting with a drive around Fateh Sagar Lake. Stop at the Folk Museum, Mewar Art Gallery and Sahelion Ki Bari Gardens. Later, visit the magnificent City Palace, which is still home to Maharana Udai Singh’s descendants who remain rulers of this independent state
Drive to Bundi and take a stroll through the town, discovering the unique stepwells.
Leave Bundi and drive for 3 hours to Ranthambore National Park. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. The following day you will enjoy morning and afternoon canter (jeep-like vehicle) safaris for the chance to spot the local wildlife.
Fly to Delhi where the rest of the day will be at leisure.
Fly to Kathmandu. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel to settle in – the rest of the day is free to help you acclimatise to the higher altitude.
Visit Dakshinkali Temple before continuing to Patan. Explore the 14th Century UNESCO World Heritage Royal Palace and Patans Durbar Square.
Sightseeing includes a visit to Kathmandus Durbar Square and Kumari Temple. Youll also visit the Monkey Temple of Swayambhunath and Bodnath Stupa, which is the largest in Nepal. Enjoy a stroll through Thamel Market. We will also visit the Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu Temple of Lord Shiva.
Travel to Dhulikhel stopping at Changu Narayan Temple en route. In Dhulikhel, explore the Newari Houses and visit local markets.
Travel to the 9th Century town of Bhaktapur to visit the Golden Gate at the Palace of 55 Windows before returning to Kathmandu to watch a traditional Nepalese dancing show.
Today any time before your flight will be at leisure. You will then be transferred to the airport according to the departure time of your flight to Australia, arriving home the same or following day.
All of our tour departures include international flights and taxes in the price. Our tour prices are from prices based on per person, twin share and are subject to the availability of specific economy class fare levels. If the dates we have available for this tour don't suit your needs, or you are not sure travelling as part of a group is for you, maybe a Private Tour would be more ideal.
Wendy Wu Tours inspects all hotels to ensure they meet the high levels of service, which we require for our guests. We pick the right hotel for the specific destination, meaning your accommodation can range from a smart business hotel in one city to a family-run guesthouse in a smaller town. Hotels are also chosen for ease of navigation around tourist sights. View Hotels Here
All nationalities require a visa when travelling to India and Nepal. Travellers should arrange visas well in advance of departure. Unlike many other tour operators, we include your India and Nepal visas in the price of your tour. We handle the entire application process – all you need to do is complete the paperwork and send your passport to us eight weeks prior to departure. We are always on hand to help you with any queries you may have while completing the application form.
While travelling overseas, the Wendy Wu Tours contact number during business hours is +61 2 9224 8888.
Emergency Assistance (24-hours) is 0044 1888 288 288.
You will find mobile phone coverage to be quite high throughout Asia. We recommend contacting your mobile carrier if you intend to use international roaming during your holiday and ensure you investigate all associated call and data costs before you leave Australia. Some hotels may have Wi-Fi, which usually comes at a cost.
Tipping is not commonplace in Australia. In Asia however, it is anticipated that a tip be given to reward good service. With that in mind, we have a tipping system for our group tours.
The total tipping amount for this tour will be divided up – one portion for India and one portion for Nepal. Each passenger ‘tips’ a set amount to the National Escort in India and then Nepal on arrival in each country. They then distribute this as appropriate. We confirm the tipping amounts in your final documentation.
Shopping is a fun and entertaining component to any travel adventure. In keeping with most people’s interests while on holiday, your tour includes a reasonable number of opportunities to shop for local goods and souvenirs. Included are visits to establishments that provide locally produced goods, unique to your destination. Witness the creation of these products, and see first-hand how their production supports the local economy. As most travellers like to take home souvenirs, we ensure the shops you visit have a reputation for quality, honesty, and authenticity.
We aim to cater to the tastes of the majority of people and so the food is not too spicy or too unusual.
Breakfast at your hotel includes local and western dishes. A great deal of Indian and Nepalese cuisine is vegetarian. Drinks are at your own expense. Only consume boiled or bottled water/ice.
Please ensure you specify any dietary requirements at the time of booking. We suggest also mentioning it to the National Escort on arrival. They will do their utmost to cater to any special requests, such as vegetarian meals or allergies.
