Upon arrival into Narita or Haneda Airport, board a shared transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city.
Board your bullet train to Nagoya. Change trains in Nagoya to the scenic Hida Wideview Express for your continued journey to Takayama. Upon arrival in Takayama you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The reminder of the afternoon is free at leisure. (B)
Embark on a walking tour of the city. Travel to the Miyagawa morning market, where you can wander amongst the stalls selling local crafts and local produce. Continue to the Takayama Jinya, which once served as a local government office until 1969 but is now open to the public as a museum. Explore Takayama’s beautifully preserved Old Town, with many buildings and whole streets of houses dating from the Edo Period, when the city thrived as a wealthy merchant town. End the day stopping in at a sake brewery, where you can taste the differences between the various kinds of sake. (B,L)
In the morning visit the Takayama Festival Floats Museum, which displays the floats from the famous Takayama Festival. Your guide will explain to you the traditions and symbolism associated with the festival. Travel to Shirakawa-go, famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri (‘praying hands’) farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. Continue on to Kanazawa, a city that has many historical attractions such as restored residences and districts, as well as modern museums. Make your way to your hotel, where the reminder of the day is free at leisure. (B,L)
Today with your Local Guide discover the city of Kanazawa. Stroll through Kenroku-en, one of Japan's three best landscape gardens and considered the most beautiful of them all. Visit the Nagamachi Samurai district, Kagayuzen Sangyo Kaikan Silk Center which offers demonstrations of the centuries-old Yuzen silk painting technique, and the Nomura Samurai House, a traditional Japanese home with tea-ceremony room, an interior courtyard garden and artefacts from the Edo period. In the afternoon, make your way to Kanazawa station where you will continue by train to Kyoto. (B)

Fly to Beijing. Upon arrival you will be met at Beijing Airport by your driver and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure. (B)
This morning, you will walk through the expanse of Tiananmen Square, where you will pass Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum. Walk through the outer gates of the imperial Forbidden City, the sacred centre of the Chinese empire for 500 years and home to both the Ming and Qing dynasties. visit the 15th-century Temple of Heaven, one of the most perfect examples of Ming architecture. For dinner this evening, enjoy a sample the local delicacy, Peking Duck. (B,L,D)
Rise early this morning to travel to the Juyongguan Pass section of the Great Wall. Walk along the wall, admire the panoramic views and reflect on the immensity of the material and labour required for its construction. After, you will visit a jade factory and then drive along the scenic ‘Spirit Way’ also referred to as the ‘Sacred Way' to the Ming Tombs. (B,L)
Sightseeing today involves a full-day around the centre of Beijing. visit the Lama Temple, the most colourful and renowned Buddhist Temple outside of Tibet. Later visit the Summer Palace, a retreat for emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the most notorious, Empress Dowager Cixi. (B)
Enjoy the morning at your leisure before you are transferred to the airport to board your flight from Beijing to Xian. Upon your arrival in this historic city, you will be met by your Local Guide and transfer to your hotel for two nights. The rest of the day is free at your leisure. (B)
Start your full-day tour with a visit to the famous UNESCO World Heritage listed Terracotta Warriors and Horses. On your return to Xian you will stop at the Xian Art Ceramics and Lacquer Exhibition where replicas of the warriors are made, before visiting the ancient City Wall, a 500-year-old barricade built to protect the city. Standing the test of time, it is one of the only city walls in China to remain intact. Later you will stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter, exploring the many narrow laneways of the interesting Islamic food markets. (B,L)
After check-out this morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
