Your city tour shows you downtown Valparaíso as well as the colourful hills. Later visit the four-storey residence of one of Chile’s most famous and Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda's, La Sebastiana. For lunch, taste the flavours of local coastal cuisine from the region. This evening, meet former Australian Ambassador to Latin America John Woods for dinner where he will give a short welcome and talk about his time in Latin America. (L,D)
Today, in the company of John Woods, go on an unforgettable full-day experience to San Antonio Valley, a region known for its vineyards and wine. Visit the award-wining winery Casa Marín, notably known for its Sauvignon Blanc, and meet winemaker and owner, María Luz Marín, who will share her story of how she created the vineyard you are standing on and its range of exclusive cold climate wines against the opinions of experts. Later enjoy lunch in Lo Abarca at Bungalow Miramar, located in the middle of the vineyards, with a view of the valley to enjoy the whole coastal experience. Here the chef and sommelier have matched the best wines with great local produce for a delightful gastronomic experience. (B,L)
Travel to Santiago and enjoy the city’s heritage architecture and atmosphere on a city tour before you take your afternoon flight to Lima. In Santiago, see the city’s sights such as the Moneda Presidential Palace, designed by the Italian designer, Joaquin Toesca. There is the Plaza de Armas, the city's most famous square, surrounded by important and beautiful buildings such as the Cathedral and Central Post Office. One of the most important parts of the city is San Cristobal Hill. The hill is recognised as one of the largest urban parks, topped by a stunning 22 meter (72 foot) tall statue of the Virgin Mary. Enjoy a light lunch before your flight to Lima. (B,L,D)
Today, John will join you on your city tour which begins with an exploration of Colonial Lima. Stop off at the Main Square, to get a chance to explore the square on foot and admire the exteriors of the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the City Hall, all examples of Lima's still-present colonial architectural opulence. Visit the Cathedral of Lima; as walking through the Cathedral’s numerous chapels, we'll travel to the past and discover various architectural styles (from Renaissance to Neo-Classical), and learn about the religious history of Peru. his evening, join John as he gives a talk and Q & A
This morning is at your leisure. Take a half day visit to the Larco Museum, an eighteenth-century Viceregal mansion that houses more than 3,000 years of Peru's pre-Columbian history. This evening enjoy a degustation dinner at the Astrid & Gaston restaurant. (B,D)
This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco. On arrival in Cusco, meet your local guide and continue towards Pisac, a beautiful quaint town where Incan and Colonial influences have influenced the handicrafts, textiles, fine jewellery and ceramic you’ll see at the local market. Enjoy a picnic lunch. (B,L)
Today you’ll get to experience authentic Andean culture. Travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and arrive at Amaru community where the residents will hold a traditional musical greeting, native flowers, and a symbolic offering to pachamama, mother earth, in gratitude for the new day and for mutual sharing with people from a different culture. You will meet the Yaqchas villagers and learn about the hidden mystery of Yaqchas weaving. Later visit one of the last remaining Incan towns, Ollantaytambo, which was once fiercely guarded by a massive fortress. Here discover the large archaeological complex of what used to serve as a wayside inn for royal delegations on long journeys. (B,L)
Today meet Peter Frost, writer, expedition guide and scholar who led the 2001 and 2002 National Geographic Society-sponsored expeditions into the remote region of Vilcabamba, exploring the unknown Inca site of Qoriwayrachina. Peter will join you as you visit the Santuario Histórico de Machu Picchu (Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu). Enjoy the spectacular views along the way to the entrance gate of the Machu Picchu citadel, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural landscapes and the energy held in its enigmatic structures will take our breath away. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incas as we explore this magical citadel. (L,D)
This morning, you have the opportunity to take a second visit to Machu Picchu guided by Peter Frost. Later, transfer to Aguas Calientes train Station where a private transfer service will be waiting to take you back to the hotel. (B,L)
The morning is at your leisure. Enjoy lunch at the nearby Inka Grill before an afternoons tour to visit to the nearby Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a colossal structure built with huge carved rocks jointed with absolute accuracy, an astounding sample of the Incan military architecture. Take in the best view of Cusco from atop Ce rro Pukamoqo (Red Peak), a natural scenic overlook from which the outstretched arms of Cristo Blanco, a massive white statue of Christ, embrace the city in a benevolent gesture. Stop by San Pedro Market, the city’s main street market and see local products that represent the aromas, tastes, and colours of the region. (B,L)

This morning transfer to Cusco airport for a flight to Lima. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel before venturing on a culinary experience in Barranco with Penélope Alzamora. Visit a Peruvian market and as you sip some Pisco Sours and prepare your own ceviche and other Peruvian trademark dishes, Penelope will masterfully guide you through certain aspects of Peruvian history that can be best, and maybe even only, explained through the country´s world-class gastronomy.
