(London, UK – 9 May 2017)
Wendy Wu, travel industry entrepreneur and pioneer, was last night inducted into the esteemed British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame.
Created in 1995, the Hall of Fame recognises only the highest achieving individuals who have shaped the market and inspired the travel, hospitality, tourism and leisure sectors of industry. In Wendy’s company are Sir Richard Branson and Thomas Cook. Wendy is only the 6th woman to be presented with this prestigious honour.
Accepting the distinction Wendy said: “I am truly honoured to accept this peer award into the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame. When I ran my first tour in 1994, my vision was to introduce travellers to the beauty of my homeland, China. Today, even after 23 years in the industry, my passion for travel has never wavered. I am so grateful to our travel agent partners for their support, and look forward to continuing to empower the trade to grow their business, by introducing travellers to Asia, and the World.”
Starting her career as a travel agent, Wendy Wu ran her first tour to her native China in 1994. Wendy Wu Tours was established in 1998, and the company now operates tours to 22 countries.
"All of us here in the UK and abroad are so proud of Wendy's achievements. She started the business from ground up, and to be where it is today, a global brand, is a testament to her passion and resolve over the years" said Joe Karbo Group CEO
