Welcome to Saigon. You will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Later this evening enjoy a welcome dinner.
Travel to Cu Chi as a VIP on one of our modern speedboats arriving hours before the large tour groups. Your guide will explain life along the banks of the Saigon River as your boat gracefully slaloms through the water hyacinths. Following the scenic one-hour boat trip explore the historic Cu Chi Tunnels. Return to Saigon in the early afternoon and enjoy leisure time. This evening
enjoy the A O show and dinner at Quan Bui Restaurant.
Visit the Reunification Palace, and “War Room” from where the South
Vietnamese forces were controlled, and the room where the North Vietnamese army finally took control in the Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975. Next visit the War Remnants Museum, before making your way to Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the city’s major landmarks. Later, learn more about a must-try of the Saigon street culture - Ca Phê or Vietnamse coffee. Meet the experts and discover different blends and aromas before trying our hands at making the perfect brew.
Transfer to Can Tho, stopping en-route in Cai Be for a delicious lunch at Le Longanier restaurant. This afternoon, board the Victoria Mekong and cast off into the waters of the Mekong Delta. Relax with a sundowner on deck and sit down to a welcome dinner whilst enjoying a performance of Don Ca Tai Tu -
Traditional music. Drop anchor at Tiger Island overnight.
Explore Tiger Island and meet the local people while visiting a wood carver, weaving operation and local museum. This will put you right in the heart of local life.
Enjoy shore excursions around Tan Chau including a stop at a Cao Dai temple, silk village and optional extra to see the Tra Su Forest. In the evening, watch a thrilling lion dance performance.
Cross over into Cambodia, as you take in the local scenery. There will be onboard activities available and in the late afternoon, dock at Sisowath Quay for a traditional Apsara performance and dinner.
Welcome to Phnom Penh! The capital of Cambodia has undergone rapid development, yet it has retained much of its rustic charm and elegance. This
afternoon visit the TuolSleng Genocide Museum, before travelling to the outskirts of Phnom Penh to the Killing Fields.
Our morning starts with sampling a local coffee before visiting a local market. Navigate narrow alleys as you immerse yourself into the fascinating daily life of the locals. Later, board a ferry to an island on the Mekong River to visit a silk weaving workshop. Enjoy lunch at a local home hosted by a charming couple of islanders. We return to the city afterwards and visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda before our flight to Siem Reap.
It will be an early start, but well worth it as you enjoy breakfast while watching the sun rise at Srah Srang. Later, we explore the most famous and best-preserved of all temples within the Angkor complex, Angkor Wat. Visit the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, Baphuon, the royal enclosure, and the Terraces of the Elephants and the Leper King. Continue to Ta Prohm Temple, which, unlike most other Angkor temples, has been left just as it was when rediscovered: a striking and atmospheric maze of trees growing out of the ruins. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
This morning, travel by car to Preah Dak village. Join hands with an effort to support reforestation progress in Cambodia by planting a tree. It may be a jackfruit or mango tree, which will later help both carbon offsetting, directly benefiting the local community. Later, continue to Banteay Srei with time to explore this magnificent temple.
Enjoy a cooking class in a traditional Wooden House, surrounded by Sugar Palm trees, and endless rice fields. Take a short walk in the village to visit a local family and garden to see the local produce. During our cooking class you will learn about food superstition and beliefs while cooking your own meal. We will then enjoy lunch in a beautiful setting outside. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
Spend the day exploring Siem Reap before transferring to the airport for your flight, arriving home the following day.
All of our tour departures include international flights and taxes in the price. Our tour prices are from prices based on per person, twin share and are subject to the availability of specific economy class fare levels. If the dates we have available for this tour don't suit your needs, or you are not sure travelling as part of a group is for you, maybe a Private Tour would be more ideal.
Most nationalities require a visa when travelling to Vietnam. Travellers should arrange visas well in advance of departure. Unlike many other tour operators, we include your visa in the price of your tour. We handle the entire application process – all you need to do is complete the paperwork and send your passport to us eight weeks prior to departure. We are always on hand to help you with any queries you may have while completing the application form.
While travelling overseas, the Wendy Wu Tours contact number during business hours is +61 2 9224 8888. Emergency Assistance (24-hours) is 0044 1888 288 288. You will find mobile phone coverage to be quite high throughout Asia. We recommend contacting your mobile carrier if you intend to use international roaming during your holiday and ensure you investigate all associated call and data costs before you leave Australia. Some hotels may have Wi-Fi, which usually comes at a cost.
Tipping is not commonplace in Australia. In Asia however, it is anticipated that a tip be given to reward good service. With that in mind, we have a tipping system for our group tours. Each passenger ‘tips’ a set amount to the National Escort at the start of the tour or on arrival in each country. They then distribute this as appropriate. Tipping is appreciated for Private and Tailor-Made travel. In your final documents, we include guidelines for tipping when travelling independently.
Shopping is a fun and entertaining component to any travel adventure. In keeping with most people’s interests while on holiday, your tour includes a reasonable number of opportunities to shop for local goods and souvenirs. Included are visits to establishments that provide locally produced goods, unique to your destination. Witness the creation of these products, and see first-hand how their production supports the local economy. As most travellers like to take home souvenirs, we ensure the shops you visit have a reputation for quality, honesty, and authenticity.
We aim to cater to the tastes of the majority of people and so the food is not too spicy or too unusual. Breakfast at your hotel includes local and western dishes. In remote areas, we suggest embracing local specialities. Lunch and dinner consists of shared dishes. Meals generally finish with fruit to clean the palate. Drinks such as beer, soft drinks or bottled water are at your own expense locally.
At Wendy Wu Tours we are all avid adventurers, constantly seeking out the best ways for you to experience Asia. That's why we are Asia experts and Australia's leading Asia tour operator - our customer reviews and numerous awards say it all. This website is all about showcasing both Asia's top sights and its magnificent hidden gems; about the plethora of different types of authentic and exciting experiences that we can offer you; and about giving you the very best holiday, whether it's your first visit or your 10th.
