Upon arrival at Ulaanbaatar airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
After an early breakfast drive to Khukh Nuur, a very important place in Mongolian history particularly of Genghis Khan. Here, he was invested as a 'The Great Khaan of all Mongolia' in 1189. The stone ruins of a ger on the south side of the lake could be the ruins of the palace ger where he was proclaimed khaan. The surrounding area of Khukh Nuur is peaceful and there are opportunities for hiking available. After lunch, explore the area. Stay overnight in a Ger camp (L,D)
This morning drive to Binder Soum. Visit the Uglugchiin Kherem Wall, which is 3km in length and made entirely of stones without the use of mortar. Today it stands 3.1m tall at its highest point and there are approximately 60 tombs located near the wall. Uglugchiin Kherem may be a burial place of great historical Mongol figures, such as Genghis Khan or Kublai Khan. Enjoy a picnic lunch and overnight stay in a Ger camp. (B,L,D)
Travel to the birthplace of Genghis Khan, Dadal, following the banks of Onon River. The backdrop in this area is stunning and there will be many photo opportunities. The Ger camp where you will stay tonight is close to Chinggisiin Gurvan Lake. In the afternoon, visit a Buriad family and experience the unique culture of this ethnic group. Enjoy dinner and a two night stay in a Ger camp. (B,L,D)
Explore the birthplace of Genghis Khan. An historian will take you on a journey through this period of his life. Afterwards, visit the Genghis Khaan's Monument. In the afternoon enjoy horse riding in the steppes (at your own expense). After dinner, unwind in your Ger camp. (B,L,D)
Drive to the centre of Khentii province, Ondorkhaan, known for the huge number of statues of Genghis Khan. Stay overnight in a Ger camp. (B,L,D)
Journey to Khuduu Aral, the place where the 'Secret History of the Mongols' was written in 1240. In the area, archaeologists found the ruins of ancient city Aurag. After lunch, explore the Genghis Khaan's monument and the ruins of Aurag city. It is believed that Genghis Khan used to drink from the natural mineral springs near the ruins. Stay overnight in a Ger camp. (B,L,D)
Travel to 13th Century National Park. The park covers a large area and is home to six camps and tribes which are each very unique. Everything is built in a 13th century design and is an unforgettable experience of Mongol history. Stay overnight in a Ger camp. (B,L,D)
Return to Ulaanbaatar. En route, stop by the Genghis Khaan Statue Complex. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (B)
After check-out this morning you will be transferred to Ulaanbaatar airport where your arrangements end. (B)
