Fly to Delhi, India's exciting, multilayered capital city, for a two-night stay.
Starting in Old Delhi, embark on a rickshaw ride through the atmospheric streets, visiting Jama Masjid. Venture to a local market to learn about the local herbs and spices. Cross into New Delhi to view the colonial grandeur of the Rajpath, including the Rashtrapati Bhavan and Qutub Minar, finishing the day at India Gate.
Journey by road to Jaipur, the 'Pink City'.
Enjoy an early morning yoga session. Head just out of the city to the colossal Amer Fort, stopping en route to admire the exquisite facade of Hawa Mahal, or 'Palace of the Winds'. The Amer Fort is built of yellow and pink sandstone and white marble, and its opulent halls are full of intricate carvings and stained glass. This afternoon, explore the City Palace, part of which is still home to Jaipur's royal family, and visit a block printing workshop.
Travel by road to Ranthambore, the best place in India to see tigers! The park is also home to leopards, hyena and bears, and you'll have two canter safaris, in the early morning and afternoon to spot them.
Head to Agra. Explore the magnificent Agra Fort before enjoying some free time to relax at the hotel. This evening, return to the fort to marvel at the Agra Fort sound and light show.
Rise early to see the sun rise over one of the world's most perfect buildings. At dawn the Taj Mahal is swathed in mist and tinged pink by the rising sun - an unforgettable sight. Get some insight into how the beauty of the Taj Mahal was achieved at a marble inlay workshop before transferring to Delhi.
Transfer to the airport and fly to the ancient city of Varanasi. After settling into the hotel, take a rickshaw to the famous ghats and witness the atmospheric puja ceremony of Ganga Aarti.
Rise early to cruise on the River Ganges and watch the ghats come to life as the sun rises. Take a city tour before visiting Samath, where Buddha is said to have delivered his first sermon. Later visit a silk weaver to learn about the craft.
Today will be a long drive from Varanasi to India's border with Nepal. After completing the border formalities continue on to Lumbini.
Take a rickshaw tour of this Buddhist pilgrimage site, passing numerous stupas, monasteries and temples as you go. Visit Maya Devi Temple, the exact spot where Siddhartha Gautama, better known as Buddha, was born and enjoy the tranquility of the Monastery of World Peace.
Drive to Chitwan National Park. Check into your jungle lodge and spend the rest of the day taking part in park activities.
Spend the day at Chitwan taking part in activities such as jeep safaris, canoe rides, village walks and jungle walks.
Drive from Chitwan to Bandipur, a typical Newari mountain town - untouched by modernisation, its full of old houses and temples from the medieval era.
Rise early to hike up Thani Mai for glorious sunrise views of the surrounding landscapes. Depart for the lakeside town of Pokhara, with its majestic views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
Drive to Khade Khola from where you'll head out on foot into the beautiful landscapes. Hike up to a local village where you'll meet the friendly villagers and visit the local school and coffee farm.
Transfer to the airport and fly to Nepal's vibrant capital city, Kathmandu. On arrival, the rest of the day is free to spend as you wish.
Kathmandu is a hub of culture and artistic heritage and a monument to the medieval era. Visit Swayambhunath Temple and Durbar Square before taking a rickshaw ride through the chaotic streets. Head to Boudhnath Stupa for a special Lama blessing, before finishing the day at Pashupatinath Temple.
Bhaktapur is a wonderfully preserved and atmospheric medieval city. Visit the home of a Newari family before wandering to Durbar Square to admire the beautiful architecture. Finally, head to Potters' Square to visit a ceramics workshop to learn traditional pottery skills from a master potter.
Transfer for your flight to Australia, arriving home the same or following day.
All of our tour departures include international flights and taxes in the price. Our tour prices are from prices based on per person, twin share and are subject to the availability of specific economy class fare levels. If the dates we have available for this tour don't suit your needs, or you are not sure travelling as part of a group is for you, maybe a Private Tour would be more ideal.
Wendy Wu Tours inspects all hotels to ensure they meet the high levels of service, which we require for our guests. We pick the right hotel for the specific destination, meaning your accommodation can range from a smart business hotel in one city to a family-run guesthouse in a smaller town. Hotels are also chosen for ease of navigation around tourist sights. View Hotels Here
Most nationalities require a visa when travelling to India. Travellers should arrange visas well in advance of departure. Unlike many other tour operators, we include your visa in the price of your tour. We handle the entire application process – all you need to do is complete the paperwork and send your passport to us eight weeks prior to departure. We are always on hand to help you with any queries you may have while completing the application form.
While travelling overseas, the Wendy Wu Tours contact number during business hours is +61 2 9224 8888. Emergency Assistance (24-hours) is 0044 1888 288 288. You will find mobile phone coverage to be quite high throughout Asia. We recommend contacting your mobile carrier if you intend to use international roaming during your holiday and ensure you investigate all associated call and data costs before you leave Australia. Some hotels may have Wi-Fi, which usually comes at a cost.
Tipping is not commonplace in Australia. In Asia however, it is anticipated that a tip be given to reward good service. With that in mind, we have a tipping system for our group tours. Each passenger ‘tips’ a set amount to the National Escort at the start of the tour or on arrival in each country. They then distribute this as appropriate. Tipping is appreciated for Private and Tailor-Made travel. In your final documents, we include guidelines for tipping when travelling independently.
Shopping is a fun and entertaining component to any travel adventure. In keeping with most people’s interests while on holiday, your tour includes a reasonable number of opportunities to shop for local goods and souvenirs. Included are visits to establishments that provide locally produced goods, unique to your destination. Witness the creation of these products, and see first-hand how their production supports the local economy. As most travellers like to take home souvenirs, we ensure the shops you visit have a reputation for quality, honesty, and authenticity.
We aim to cater to the tastes of the majority of people and so the food is not too spicy or too unusual. Breakfast at your hotel includes local and western dishes. A myth about India is that the food is of poor quality and always spicy. This is definitely not the case! In addition, a great deal of Indian cuisine is vegetarian. Drinks are at your own expense. Beer is widely available. Bottled drinking water and soft drinks are widely available – you should only have ice, juices, or lassies from a trusted source that uses boiled or bottled water.
At Wendy Wu Tours we are all avid adventurers, constantly seeking out the best ways for you to experience Asia. That's why we are Asia experts and Australia's leading Asia tour operator - our customer reviews and numerous awards say it all. This website is all about showcasing both Asia's top sights and its magnificent hidden gems; about the plethora of different types of authentic and exciting experiences that we can offer you; and about giving you the very best holiday, whether it's your first visit or your 10th.
